Fug you all.. Hurney, DG and Shula..

Hornets now have made it through the 2 rough months and are playing decent ball now going into the easier part of their schedule.. everyone is healthy and I hope it stays that way.. Monk and Bacon still aren't getting solid PT but whatevs.. I'm not thinking playoffs right now - just need to collect some wins against scrubs and get back to .500.. every game in January is more than winable.. we just came off a Westcoast trip that was excellent, IMO.. to gather a W against the Warriors - @ Oracle!?! that might be the catalyst to jump start our season..

Dwight is playing great and so are Lamb and Kemba.. Marvin is still shooting over .400 for 3pt range.. Frank has been filling it up but very inconsistent and ineffiecient at times..

MKG has been a pleasant surprise in his shot making:

Batum needs to get back in the groove.. he's shooting under .300 from 3pt range.. just terrible..
but his numbers are improving since he has been back (small sample size, i know):

I don't know what the season holds for us - maybe a swap of deck chairs at the trade deadline could help but probably not.. I never forsee us getting a big name at the deadline - so Real help is probably not coming.. I have put the Panthers in the rear view and in the full swing of Bball now.. hopefully a better 2nd half of the year..

Hornets have a coaching issue just like the Panthers.

There is no reason this team isn't top 4 in the East with the talent, it's all coaching.

i'm not fully on board with a coaching change - Clifford & Co. is so much better than the past 4 coaches we have had here (Dunlap, Silas, Brown, Vincent).. - but i'm listening to the rumblings you speak of..

They're not a top 4 team....not as long as MKG and and Batum are on the team....or at least asked to start.

MKG has been fine this year actually.    He's about what we expect.    I definitely haven't been a MKG super fan but he's fine, he is NOT the issue.

Batum, yes.

But Clifford just not playing young guys is stupid.    His rotations never make sense either.    There's no reason this team shouldn't be above .500.

The man can't shoot.  In no way does he extend a defense.  He has his good moments and he's fine coming off the bench as a role player in defensive possessions.. To think though, that he's the answer as a full time starter I just don't see it.  MKG has been in the league awhile now, there isn't much ceiling left.

I'm not saying that he doesn't have strengths.  He's a good defender.  A good rebounder, and at times he drives to the basket well.  Ultimately...you just have to be able to shoot.  If you can't hit the 3 as a SF in the NBA...you've got no business starting.

I long for the days of Dave Cowens.

    • Exactly the type of thing he would have done here. The excuse people were stannin’ so hard claiming he would have looked just as bad. Just not true.
    • Yes and there aren't 32 starting QBs in the league either. Too many teams and too many games. The NFL has regressed over the years and game quality is lacking. The other leagues are supposed to be farm leagues but it doesn't matter. You just won't have 32 no matter what they do. The move to super athletes playing QB at all levels has lead to this. It used to be those guys played other positions but now they are QBs who can't really QB.  It has a trickle down effect too. OL can't block because they never had to. The fact that in today's game your QB must be able to run at least a little to survive is evidence of this as well. IMO they have ruined the game same as with the NBA. It's been simplified to the point of being boring.  Just look at the top 10 this season. Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) Joe Burrow (Bengals) Josh Allen (Bills) Lamar Jackson (Ravens) Dak Prescott (Cowboys) Jalen Hurts (Eagles) Brock Purdy (49ers) Jordan Love (Packers) Justin Herbert (Chargers) Matthew Stafford (Rams) Once we get to number 5 the stats look like this: 167 262 1,845 63.7 7.0 10 8 65 18 84.5   47.5   10 TDs and 8 INTs??? At number 5??? There was a time not that long ago that he wouldn't even be a starter.
    • I'm not convinced that the NFL is any better or worse at developing QBs now than they were 20 years ago.  I mean I'm sure there are some developmental issues at play, just not sure it is any different than it has been. The biggest difference IMO is that NFL teams are waaaaaaaay more willing to invest a 1st round pick into a QB now than they were 15-20 years ago.  A guy like Colin Kaepernick would probably be a top 5 pick in 2025, whereas he went in the 2nd in 2011.  Would a guy like Trey Lance go top 3 in 2010?  Hell no.  Look at Russell Wilson - he didn't go until the 3rd round.  The standard for being a 1st round QB has dropped. So it may seem like we're seeing more high-profile busts at the position, but we're also seeing teams reach for QBs way more than they have in the past.  Someone with Anthony Richardson's college resume doesn't go in the top 3 20 years ago.
