Wasting Cam Newton?

Have we wasted Cam Newton's prime years? Sure, we have made the playoffs 4/7 years, but he's 29 next year.  Will he still be able to run and pass into his 30s?  This is a question for the new owner.  How do we fix the offense to maximize Cam's value and success?

Thoughts?

Short answer, yes. IMO when you have a franchise QB you pay a bit more focus on the offense, with the mind set it can offset a defensive let down here or there. Having to play perfect defense, and offense is not sustainable, but fueling a high caliber offense is given the game is catered to offense these days.

Ron and the staff have an 80's mentality to football.

Pretty much this. Major changes need to be made for this team to win consistently and to win the Super Bowl.

My thinking is his career will follow a RB trajectory more so than a QB trajectory. It means he has 1-3 good to great seasons left.

Been preaching this for years.

The game has changed since the 1970's-1980's because the NFL has changed the damn rules.  They wanted more scoring to make the games more "exciting" to increase the ratings to increase advertising revenue, so they changed the rules to encourage pass-friendly offenses.  To SCORE faster and more often.

And our dinosaur head coach prefers time of possession to points.  And continually pounds his multi-talented QB between the tackles.

Its infuriating.
