Bottom line: The jury is still out on whether or not Merriman can be anything close to the player he once was and in the meantime he wants $$$$, which is why the Chargers are looking to move him.

At this point in time there are three factors that would restrict a team trading for Peppers. 1) Available cap space to pay Peppers 2) A need to trade for Peppers and 3) The draft picks to trade for Peppers.

There is actually a lot of teams that I can think of that meet 2 of those restrictions but only one that would meet all three. Denver would be that team as they still have a lot of cap room and adding a player like Peppers would probably make them the team to beat in the AFC. And they are going to have an extra pick next year in the draft from the Cutler trade.

However, even this is very unlikely and given that there really is only one possible situation that where Peppers could be traded the odds just are too high of him getting dealt before the trading deadline.

He said only team that they had heard was even interested in Pep was New England again.Said they needed a good pass rusher on the d-line.So I called the numbers I looked up on the internet for the patriots,called and the girl said I couldn't speak directly to GM,so I left a message for him.If you want a great pass rusher off the Panthers,trade for Hollis Thomas.If you want Pep,make sure you get Beason too,cause he is the only one who can make him play at a high level.If you can't make a deal with Beason in it,Hollis is your man
