as much as possible, we need to keep the OL in tact as is heading into next year. chemistry can overcome alot of woes. get moton involved more and bring in one or two more to help make the OL deeper.

i think we'll see better production out of CMC next year and an offense hopefully designed more around his strengths as a runner. plus i think the game slows down a little for him. i wouldn't be opposed to bringing in another RB to complement CMC, but we need to see CMC carry the ball more. an interesting candidate would be orleans darkwa from NYG. he's not a whole lot bigger than CMC, but i think he'd be the hardnosed grinder we hoped stewart would be more of at this point. he's not a bad receiver, either.

i think we've got some decent talent at WR with funchess, samuel, and byrd. good bit of speed there and big play potential with samuel and byrd, but we need to get a good experienced vet to come in and partner with the young guys. i know a lot of people are talking about guys like watkins or richardson, but those two guys are probably going to be making a lot of money, probably getting 5 year $30+mil deals. one interesting choice/gamble would be terrelle pryor. imo, he's still the same guy who had a 1k+ season with some really bad QBs in cleveland in his first year as a WR, but wasn't that great a fit in washington before getting hurt. he's got some great size and speed and catches with his hands pretty well but he could come at a bargain trying to prove himself again. just a thought.

We need to draft a TE early to play with olsen. i wouldn't object to us going after cameron brate in FA, though. not much in the way of a blocker (though he's improved some) but in the red zone, an area we need mucho help, he'd be absolute gold. i don't want to see us going into next season with the TE corps we have now, though.

on defense...bring back norman somehow and move on from mike adams and capt. munnerlynn. focus on DE and safety in the draft and bring in a better vet CB. if we can't get norman back, maybe go after patrick robinson from the eagles? i don't know...not exactly a great CB free agent class this year, but i don't want to trust another rookie.

Again, treat the problem not the side effects. Stewart and the running game are side effects of having garbage at wide receivers. Kamara and Ingram were shut down because we committed to stopping them like every team did to us.

when you have receivers and a legit passing game they can’t if you are getting chunk plays in the passing game because of it. Unless of course you are playing Steve Wilks who never stopped the commitment to keep them stopped.

stewart or no stewart,  no one is going to do better until we address the disease.

whew thats a novel but I read it

I agree with all of that I think.  I've been begging them to run CMC more all season long and he didnt even have 1 20+ carry game. In the 3 games he got over 10 carries he collectively averaged over 4 yards per carry .. which is pretty average/normal ypc for a good RB.

Game is already slowing down for him in 2nd half of the season. I think he could hugely benifit from getting 10lbs of solid muscle gain in the offseason and get up to around 215-218 lbs. Will help him shake off and run throw half assed tackles and push the pile at least some .

Thats an interesting point about Pryor. Id do it. All the big names like Allen Robinson , Sammy Watkins, others are going to get huge paydays and pryors probably going to be like the forgotten man. Getting 1000 yards on a historically bad Cleveland team last year wasnta fluke im willing to bet, although im not exactly sure what happen to him in Washington.

I like Fumagalli in the draft. I'm not in love with Hayden Hurst, Mark Andrews , or Mike Geseki . There's no clear cut best TE in this draft yet.

Norman? By god if we could get Norman back and get Pryor in free agency thats already gigantic upgrades. Get a saftey and DE high in the draft, we're set!.

If Stew is back then I will know this team isn't serious about contending. Even with lackluster run blocking by the line, whenever there was an opening he either did not see it or was too slow to exploit it.

I'm honestly not sure why so many people here can't see this. Ive been saying it since last year. Several times a game there will be an opening and Stew just no longer has the burst to hit it.

If we are going FA RB to replace Stew, I would want to take a look at Isaiah Crowell.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Alfred Morris come in.  Getting a RB is one thing, but you have to get one who is comfortable with the Zone-read stuff that we do and he ran it in Wash with RG3 and then again in Dallas with Dak.  Beef up CMC, use him more and use Morris as your pounding zone read back.  All of this will be a net gain on relief for our cap situation as well.

Back when he was signed a few of us offseason geeks figured out that his contract was just a 1 year rental at first. So I’m curious if someone could dig that up again. I can’t because I’m stuck on my phone at the moment.

It was a 2 year rental, the first year was where we were fuged, second was last year we needed to keep him, trust me, he'll be here next year

There are symptoms and there are problems. And there are symptoms AND problems. J-Stew is quickly becoming both. And will only in the future serve the purpose of us having to overuse and abuse our new weapon in CMac. We made CMac less effective than he could be when we gave up our deep threat in Ginn and did not replace him. Now everybody is on the train to improve our receiving core, BUT people want to let Norwell walk and cut the Kalils. Then Cam would have no time and be on the ground. We need to keep our OL in place. They were solid outside of Matt, and there are some things we can do there, at least until we may have to cut him the following year. We need 2 real receivers (1 in draft, 1 in FA) and a younger RB with burst to replace J-Stew. That's very doable and our offense will be more than fine. It could be fire.

Some big names at that. They are long time staples of the team.

I think Charles Johnson and Ryan Kalil are sitting very dangerously on the cutting block as well as Jonathan Stewart. All 3 are playing way past their prime and could be replaced by comparable players a fraction of their current contract and we need more space now to sign players like Norwell and Star.

If someone can find and repost the Matt Kalil contract stipulation that basically makes his contract a 1 year rental at first that would be great. Becuase I’m trying to figure out what his contract impact would be if cut, thanks!

He got somewhat better during the last few games, but I don't trust that he's got a full season in him anymore. At least not a good one.
