Panthers have so many needs for Hurney to fill.

Every offseason I say WR and every offseason people think of reasons why “we’re good enough” at WR and after every playoff exit it’s so damn obvious we need help at WR.

Love the “so many holes” when Gettleman supposedly left us in a great position

It's not a Hurney fill, but I'd say replace Wilks.  I think the D took a step back this year.  New coaching will help out masking the flaws of our back four.

That being said:

1. Pass Rusher.  While the numbers look good, we could have been much more consistent.  We need someone who can be an absolute terror off the edge, especially if Peppers retires for good.

2. Safety help.  Not sure if this draft has what we need (like I'm out of that loop right now), but we need someone who can be an upgrade to Mike Adams.  Coleman had played his best when he has a good buddy next to him.

3.  2nd Tight End - the Ghost of Hunter Henry draft...  We saw once Olsen went down, we lots a lot of play making.  We need a young guy who can take over 88's mantle in a few years.

4. Quality back up Center.  For having two of the best guards in the NFL (Turner's history to go with Norwell's All Pro status), we still got hammered inside running.  Larsen is a good backup, but we need a real successor to Kalil.

5.  Stewart replacement.  He's given us a heck of a Career, but it's time for us to move on from him.  We need someone who can be that hammer, but with a little more speed.

So long as we have Cam, we have a chance (as we saw).  But we need someone who can put the pressure on an offense and some more weapons for Cam.

LoL so WR doesn’t make your top 5 in the needs department?

Just wow

Once again we go into an off-season talking about getting Cam help. Can’t start next season with the same cast of wr’s that started the WC game.

CMC is not a legit rb, we need to replace Stew.

Need secondary help, competition for Worley and a safety

And of course we need to find someone to replace Jordan Gross

I willing to give Byrd and Samuel another chance.   Is there a FA WR who is a magical fix?  Or potential draft pick who is concretely better?

Also, NE has a good prototype for running a successful offense featuring two TEs.  That would give our power running game a better down field threat than another small fast guy on the outside.

I'm not a NFL GM, just a tool with a keyboard.

There’s a bunch of solid FA WR options and a Calvin Ridley in the draft, stop making excuses and stop putting it off another year.

We will be going on year 8. Stop using NE as a norm as well. What NE does should never be used as a reason to do something because of who they have running the show on the sidelines and under center.

Give Cam real weapons on the outside and that’ll open up everything else not the other way around.

So many holes on this team going into 2018

What should be priority #1 as far as player personnel is concerned?

Young talent at safety 100%. DG only gave us Boston, and while he was okay here and played well in LA this year that wasn't enough. We need a really good young player at safety like a Collins, Hooker or Adams.

Doubtful.

This isn't selling a car in Craigslist.

Months of vetting, negotiations, paperwork.

At the earliest it will be July, realistically.

Do you not think it's possible JR really has already had some buyers lined up? I'm sure he's been planning for this to happen at some point for a while now.

I really think we need to focus on DE.  CJ being a healthy scratch and Peppers being 38 ought to drive that point home.  I have no idea what we have in Daeshon Hall, but if we can get a DE that has to be accounted for to pair with our interior rush, everyone's going to be talking about how great it is that Coleman has returned to form and Bradberry/Worley are finally coming into their own.

On offense, I have no idea what we have in Moton, but we're the only team in the division that hasn't drafted OL high in the last five years.  I think we got lucky with Norwell, and re-signing him looks like it should be a priority, but that probably depends on what the coaches think of Moton.  I have no idea if Williams can play LT, he was at RT in college and looks good there now.  I think Matt Kalil got better over the course of the season, but he just looks bad out there.  I don't think a top LT will slide to us at 24 though, but if there's a run on Quarterbacks or another position we could get lucky.  I would even forgive Hurney for trading up for one, as long as he doesn't give away our 2019 first round pick.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Stewart back in a Stephen Davis role, but I would be surprised if his contract wasn't reworked to make it happen.  I also wouldn't be surprised to see Kalil back.

The biggest issue for me is how the team gets its mojo back.  They haven't looked like they're having fun since the Super Bowl loss.  If we can somehow get that back, it's worth our entire draft.  But asking any GM to do that, and for the Panthers, to do it in an even year may be too much.
