Panthers have so many needs for Hurney to fill.

Honestly the difference between Carolina and New Orleans this year was last year’s draft. They nailed almost every selection  while we burned our 8th overall on a RB and used our second on DG’s annual conversion pick.

We’re not magically going to be the only team to make our line better, but let’s not make it worse: sign or tag Norwell.

Go get John Brown and one other receiver, as we have no one. Draft another one. Draft a back in the third round and load up on safeties and corners.

No kidding! I'd start with the secondary, Worley and Bradberry are both TRASH. Mike Adams would be a great piece to bring back as a BACKUP. Coleman is garbage, Munnerlyn is just LOL. And Colin Jones is actually solid if he gets play time. The D line has been nothing but a complete brick wall. Just that, I mean they can stop the run but a brick wall doesn't move. Meaning they can't sack or get pressure on a QB if their lives depended on it. The offensive line needs a left tackle of the future, need to figure out what's up with Norwell and what direction we're going to go in. For gods sake we need to trade for an established WR or get Landry in FA. Also a power back, there's a lot but look at the Saints. One draft is all it takes.

Doubtful.

This isn't selling a car in Craigslist.

Months of vetting, negotiations, paperwork.

At the earliest it will be July, realistically.

But it's not like the Bill's sale either.  JR can pick who he sells too so no bidding. Vetting yes and owner vote.  March would be the earliest ad that is when the owners meeting is.

On number 1 ... I'm not as down on Curtis Samuel as some here. Guy wasn't healthy from the start. An entire offseason in a pro system and not training for the combine should help.

If he and Byrd can stay healthy, there are two deep threats right there.

Personally if those guys can stay healthy a vet in FA for that position would be nice if we could afford them.

Major Areas of concern

WR - Pretty sure we are dead last in the league here. Funchess is a 2 at best..everyone else should be on the scout team lmao. Why bother grooming 2 young potential busts when you can sign a vet for 3 mil that fills the same role. Ive never understood the decision the front office makes on WR's. WHy even bother drafting WR's when you have 0 clue what a good one looks like.

OL - There is no fix to this though, they are overpaid and under performing

Corner - They both are hot garbage, maybe they get better year 3, but I doubt it. So much Worley hate, but I actually watch Bradberry get massacred every game.

Safety - 1 should retire, 1 shouldn't be a starter

In my opion

DE - Alot of good DE's int he draft

Sign a speed vet at WR, trade Funchess, Spend fuging money on an actual WR1 or just trade whatever draft pick you were going to use on a future bust at WR to get a real starter. Every year a team will trade out their #1 WR for a draft pick that will be outright useless for them.

OL - IDK, were fuged. Maybe a good tackle is available in the 1st round

Corners - IDGAF about those 2 bums starting, I legit watched bradberry run the wrong fuging way on the field as the only fuging receiver in his zone runs behind him. Who are you even guarding moron...There is 1 fuging guy on your entire side of the field WHY ARE YOU RUNNING AWAY FROM THE 1 fuging GUY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE FIELD ON EVERY fuging DRAG, DIG AND OUT. THERE IS 1 fuging GUY TO GUARD...GUARD HIM, ITS NOT fuging ROCKET SCIENCE, WHEN YOU ARE IN ZONE, YOU GUARD THE fuging GUY THAT WILL BE RUNNING IN YOUR ZONE, YOU DONT STAND THERE LIKE A fuging RETARD AND GUARD THE AIR AND GRASS. And is every fuging play he does this for 2 years. Legit 0 football IQ on with Bradberry and legit 0 football talent from the other idiot.

Safety - Bunch of legit Safety's in the draft, and corners.

DE's, Safety's, Corners look real good and deep this draft. I am not really liking to many offensive players this draft.

Left tackle or a power running back.

It’s not gonna be LT. We are stuck with Kalil unless Moton can make a jump next year. The best we can hope for is Moton taking a starting role bc he’s finally maturing and Kalil contract being cap friendly for cutting him.

The running back idea isn’t a bad one though. There are so many good backs in this class Hurney probably doesn’t have to get one in the first round to be successful. Two guys who I’d watch would be Royce Freeman and Rashad Penny. They are round 2-3 guys and could carry it 250 time a year without problem. Chubb is an obvious fit for what the Panthers do. If he’s seen as BPA then I could see that being the pick.

If we’re ready to move on from Stew and there isn’t gonna be a cap hit (hopefully at this point there wouldn’t be) and we want a vet then watch out for Demarco Murray. They said this postseason the titans are ready to move on...Id rather have a rookie but if Hurney wants to go elsewhere rounds 1-3 then he could be an option. When healthy he’s effective.

Our safety position is a wreck. Coleman went from pro bowler to Nakamura status in a season. Adams made a few plays this year and with a competent sideline to sideline guy he could be good for another year. But the two of them together is a disaster.

Fitzpatrick and James are the obvious guys but they are going to go high. Then there are some fringe first round guys. Idt you take them bc they prob aren’t BPA. Free agency has been a decent route for safety for RR in the past but it backfired this year. Largely bc we didn’t have a guy like Josh Norman shutting down 1/3 of the field.

Hurney is in some trouble though. He essentially has to:

1. Decide whether to sign Norwell to a potential top 5 OG contract while also paying Turner the same money.

2. Figure out if the combo of Samuel, Byrd, Clay is to be trusted as a WR alongside Funchess or go get a guy like Kirk or Ridley in round 1.

3. Can the Panthers get a bell cow RB in round 3?

4. Safety position?

5. What’s going to happen with Star?

This is a deep draft at positions the panthers need. Hurney better not screw up.

Safety - Kurt Coleman is the worst FS in the NFL and Mike Adams is old and slow, we have neglected this position for at least 4 years now, need an injection of youth and talent at the position.

Nickel Corner- Captain was a disaster, I cringed everytime he was sent on a blitz and Colin Jones outplayed him. I hope Corn Elder or Cole Luke can be the answer.

DE- CJ is done, Peppers is 38 and Addison will be in his 30s, need to have long term replacements to go along with Hall.

OT- Matt Kalil is garbage, defenses no it and put their best pass rusher or send blitzes to his side. I think they have to keep him because of his contract, but hopefully they can find a quality LT in the draft.

C- Its time to move on from Ryan Kalil, he isn't going to get any healthier. I want a C that plays with more physicality. Could not establish a consistent run game all year

TE- Ed Dickson and Chris Manhertz are not good enough. Greg Olsen is still a top 5 TE but its time to look for his potential replacement. We need a redzone TE that can block. Olsen can't jump over a phone book so that limits his effectiveness in the redzone

RB- Stewart is going to be 32. I still think he can be an effective RB but not here. We need another RB to pair with CMC similar to the way the Falcons do with Coleman and Freeman, two RBs that can catch and run between the tackles.

WR- Everyone except Funchess, Samuel, and Byrd should be let go. Clay and Shepard consistently dropped balls in traffic. Bersin can't get any yards after the catch, that even the turf can tackle him.

Pep's locker room interview sounded shaky regarding him returning for another season. Run CMC, is ready to replace Stewy. I would love another Greg Olsen on the opposite side of him. Of course we need durable WR with hands.

There are too many holes to fill with everyone who is a free agent and positions that have not been addressed. Unfortunately, to fill those holes Hurney will have to cut some guys which will only create more holes for the team to fill.

Biggest priority should be re-signing Norwell. Follow that up by addressing the WR position in free agency. Depending on how crazy Hurney gets with creating cap space (he could get up to 40-50M if he cuts certain guys), I wouldn't mind seeing him go after a DE or CB in FA either.

From a draft standpoint, I think we need to hit on the following: SS/FS, WR, OT, DE/DT, RB, TE, QB. At this point, I say rounds 1-3 shouk d be focused on the first 4 positions I listed.

all these offensive players.

Looks this fanbase still doesnt understand that Defense wins in the playoffs and superbowl.

I think it's time to fill those needs via Free Agency.
