“ I’d love to keep this roster my whole career, but certain things have to happen”

Today during the game Aikman said that if you subtract Cam’s rushing yds from our rushing totals we’d have the 31st ranked rushing attack in the NFL. That statistic alone proves we need to get better up front.

We can’t bring back all 5 starters next year and expect any big improvement, especially if the rumor about Shula returning as OC is true. We need some maulers up front if we want to be a strong running team that doesn’t rely on its QB to be the leading rusher.

Trai already has a big contract to play RG. Matt Kalil has a bigger one to play LT. We literally can’t afford to cut them without suffering major cap damage. D.Williams is still on his rookie contract and shows signs of improvement. That means major decisions need to made in regards to Ryan and Andrew. No way is Ryan worth 10 million a year. Even if he restructured his contract I’d draft a center high in the draft to replace him down the road. I’d let Norwell walk and draft a replacement or sign a FA. If we rank 31 with him, and can’t see us being much worse if we let him hit the market this offseason.

This is why I think we'll be fine as long as we keep Cam.

He's done just trying to be everyone's friend, he just wants to win.

So true, we are just 4 roster holes away from the Super Bowl. We have this years free agency and draft class so I actually believe we could make this team full of potential into a real power house.

We can not lose Norwell that would end very badly. Norwell is with out a doubt the best player of the line, and I disagree I beige Daryl Williams can be our RT for the next decade he keeps improving and truly broke out this year. I agree we need to cut Ryan Kaili and draft his replacement, really hoping we end up with Frank Ragnow in thisnyears draft as his replacement. If by some miracle we could trade Matt Kalil to some stupid team much ike the browns for anything we would be blessed.

I hated DG but even I can’t help but think JR’s fingerprints are ALL OVER that Kalil signing

I've pondered that.  Some people have suggested that about McCaffrey too.

Realistically though, we'll never know one way or the other.

Was just so uncharacteristic of DG. DG shouldn't have been a cheap bastard and should've paid Whitworth, Teddy and Josh, but even he isn't stupid enough to sign Kalil (one of the worst tackles in the league the 3 seasons before we signed him, worse than Remmers) to that large of a deal. JR wanted his family extended a bit and got it. That Kalil deal could not have been any more uncharacteristic of DG. fug JR, terrible owner, glad to see him go. Just hope the new owner isn't another terrible owner, which is a distinct possibility.

Remember Voth saying Gettleman was told to "spend money" this year?

That's the only real concrete statement we have, but it does lend to the idea.

CB, WR, S and HB. We just need our tackles to be serviceable and they are. LB and TE depth to be safe.

We have to address these positions. Some guys can come back and get better, like James and Darryl. They took some steps forward this year while also regressing a bit, I have faith in them but can't just rely on that. We need to bring in talent as well.

I'm not...as pressed about our tackles. I am worried about Kalil but if he can improve and just be on Daryl's level he'll be fine. Our guards are way more important and we need to sign Norwell.

S is a wash. Coleman is bad and not athletic enough and we need to improve FS. Adams is solid but old.

Jstew. Love him. But he ain't it. Not anymore. We need to improve our HB situation. CSam is a solid runner but his best skill isn't his running. We need a brusier to take some pressure off Cam and CMac.

You and I both know that no team is going to trade for Matt Kalil. We can’t cut him unless we’re willing to take a deep hit on the cap. I don’t see him going anywhere until after the 2018 season.

We agree on Ryan. He’s at the end of the line

Norwell is replaceable. He’s fine in pass protection, but our YPC stats show that doesn’t make have a huge impact on the running game. That would be ok if we were a pass happy team like the Patriots. Unfortunately we’re not. We need better run blocking. We can’t expect to bring back all 5 starters next season and expect to be better running the ball in 2018.

We also need to look at the other holes on the team. We need another starting WR, a backup TE, a CB, a SS, DE, and possibly a starting HB if Stewart is released.

In today’s NFL you can’t keep everybody.

I agree with every thing you said, except for the Dayrl Williams part I'm convinced he's our Rt for the next decade. He played incredible this year, and is a great run blocker which our line desperately needs.

True no team in their right mind would trade for Matt Kalil, I really regret us giving Trai that ridiculous extension. I understand where your coming from with Norwell I just hate losing a decent player on a inconsistent o line. What are your thoughts on Taylor Morton I don't know what to make of him.

BTW very disappointed Panthers media combined Ron and Cam interviews together. I'm also very disappointed they chopped them up without letting us hear the question which easily leads to headlines being made like this thread title.

Yup and I hope that changes too once POS JR is gone. He's the one controlling that as well.

I don’t know what to make of him because he didn’t play much this season. We spent a 2nd round pick on him so I’d like to see him play more in 2018.
