This is a unique year for me.  I want a safety and OT like no other, but, I have one pick, and it will remain unchanged throughout the offseason:

This kid went to my high school. Was a sophomore when I was a senior. Not out of this world with physical attributes, but has the intangibles of a great playmaker. Would definitely be on board with this pick.

Don't get me wrong I agree with you, but you need to fill the more glaring holes first before going after more luxury type of picks. And don't be fooled round 3 wr talent tends to actually be almost just as good as round 1 talent. Lets look at last years WR class and what you see is all of those round #1 wrs were over drafted and Juju Smith- Schuester fell to the third round where the steelers snagged him. Also after watching Matt Kalil look like a window for pass rushers, how is Cam even going to attempt to throw a pass with the amount of time he receives from the left side.

A #1 WR isn’t a luxury, it’s our most glaring need. I agree we could find one in the third or something, but it’s more risky and this need is too dire to take a chance like that in my opinion. We need to get one of the top two or three WRs in the draft, even if we need to trade up to do it. A LT is obviously a huge need too, but we can get one of those in the 2nd or 3rd too. 1st rd LTs have been busting more than WRs lately because of the college game.

It would take a while, but go back over the last 5 drafts, and identify what position groups, when drafted within 4 spots of 24 end up being legit starters.

At that point in the 1st, it wouldn't shock me if it's CB, S, G, and DT.

My pick would be BPA between S, CB, T, or DE to be honest.

1st round WR's are scary to me lately....just look at the production from the 1st round WR's this season...UGLY.

Is Calvin Ridley the next Julio Jones? I’m being serious because I really haven’t watched Alabama football all season.

Trading the future away for a solid WR does not seem smart...but trading away the future for an elite receiver I can understand the argument.

Its just really hard to evaluate OFFENSE players from Alabama. The system is so good its hard to tell if its really the player or the coaches/superior training he gets.

To me he looks good but he's not physically dominant like Julio Jones or Amari Cooper .

And he's also simply a moot point to us at 24. We'd have to trade away future year picks to get him to get anywhere near high enough to touch him, and that would long term fug the franchise because we have some dudes that are aging out of their positions (Olsen, Kalil , TD).

Hell even Christian Kirk will most likely be an outside shot . He's the only one along with Anthony Miller that has very noticeable immediate separation speed and polished reieving skills to go along with it. Kirk could go just as high as John Ross did last year depending on his 40 and combine. Everyone always falls in love with the fast guy.

More realistic dudes to watch are :

  • James Washington,  OK State (1st - 2nd round)
  • Equanimeous St. Brown , 6'4'' , Notre Dame (2nd round)
  • Anthony Miller, 5'11'' , Memphis  (2nd round)
  • Simmie Cobs Jr, 6'4'' , Indiana (2nd -3rd round)
  • Dante Pettis, 6'1'' , Washington (2nd-4th round)
  • Michael Gallup , 6'1'' , Colorado State (3rd-4th round)
  • Deoin Cain, 6'2'', Clemson (2nd-3rd round)

I think Ridley, Sutton , and Kirk will be gone by pick 24. Bears NEED a WR hella bad.

I’m not impressed by Ridley at all. I think he’ll be worse than Cooper, not worth the capital it’ll take to get him.

He’s nowhere near Julio.

indeed. Looks like a solid WR but hes not some otherworldy talent worth trading the farm for

if anything i might trade one of our 3rds to move up a couple or 3 slots to snag Christian Kirk and make sure Buffalo dont punk us again like they did with Zay Jones last year.

Anyone that puts anything other than WR at #1 under needs shouldn’t be taken serious

I'd prefer to find WR in FA. Watkins, Wallace, Moncrief, Robinson, Lee, Richardson... We have a lot of young upside WRs, I don't think the priority should be adding another. Give me a proven guy or two in FA. We have zero youth and zero upside at safety and DE. Safety or DE should be priority in draft. Though I would love to have Calvin Ridley if he's there at 24. Don't think he will be ultimately, and don't want to trade up.
