I think....the last 1st round "bust" drafted by Carolina was Otah, and you could say Brown, but he wasn't drafted in the first it just cost the Panthers a 1st round draft pick...and also could have gone the same way with Clausen.

Anyone remember who pulled those triggers?

I get what you're saying, but you're crowing about players from almost a decade ago who are long gone while we're talking about recent picks still affecting our roster. How is this real?

Otah wasn’t a bust.

Double Trouble ran behind him like monsters in 2008.

he got hurt and was never the same. I don’t call that a bust— that’s the injury bug— the talent was spot on.

i mean if they didn’t draft Otah, the 2009 draft we probably would have taken Everette Brown anyway, but without trading 2010 draft pick.

the bust was definitely Brown.

We spend the 19th pick on a player that played in less than 2 seasons worth of games for us.  That's a bust IMO.

He was a good player, and injuries got the best of him...but that doesn't mean your aren't a bust.

It's not fair, but neither is life.

Yeh but the talent was there, and it was the right pick.

Everette Brown was the wtf pick. That was a bust totally.

Man...I hate it for him, but Hurney sent our 2nd, and 4th round picks that year, along with our 09 1st rounder to move up and grab him....he plays 29 games, and is sent to the Jets for a 7th.

Injury or not, that's a bust.

(Also, for those that are excited about Hurney coming back...get ready for more of that nonsense)

I get that we could debate the length of someone’s career as being the defining metric of bust or not— talent or no talent, great stats or no stats etc

jamarcus Russell, Everette Brown, Vernon Golston,..Brady Quinn, Blaine Gabbert, jimmy Clausen— busts because they suck period. They all caused losses for their teams when they played healthy.

but when a player was drafted, a big reason why our team was able to cruise to the playoffs his rookie year,  while the team was masking its soon to be finished favorite quarterback,.. then gets cut down because of career degrading injury,...

i have trouble calling that a bust— was the right pick, can’t have a crystal ball on injuries.

He was a bust for how long he got to be good before his career was cut short.

yes Hurney gave up way too much for him. He was trying to get Fox what he was crying about,.. and he did,.. for a time.
