Shaq Thompson - Number 1 Gettleman Bust?

I think....the last 1st round "bust" drafted by Carolina was Otah, and you could say Brown, but he wasn't drafted in the first it just cost the Panthers a 1st round draft pick...and also could have gone the same way with Clausen.

Anyone remember who pulled those triggers?

To be fair, injuries ruined Otah. I don’t think you can blame Hurney for that. When healthy Otah was a great player.

We are talking about 1st round busts...injuries are part of that discussion.  If a player is drafted in the top 20, and and has 29 games total in this league...to me that means bust...even if injuries were the issue.

I'm not here saying that he was a bad pick, but the last "bust" we have had as a team has to be Otah....if he's even considered one.

TD himself would have been a bust when he was drafted as a safety. Remember his first preseason when the Carolina Panthers tried to play him as a safety?

Michael Vick created the need in Carolina for Thomas Davis who had the speed and ferocity to spy and make plays like both a linebacker and a safety. Hence, his demise as a safety and coming out party as a LB.

We tried to use Shaq like the Redskins used Su'a Cravens or the Cardinals use Deonne Buccanon -- basically a box saftey at LB. That's not Shaq's strength and he struggled trying to do this.

When he plays at WLB, where TD plays he's much better. Just hope he learns to wrap up more.
