Myles jack teldon smith and polziksisisikiensj or however you say it, make them one of the best front 7s in the nfl

They were #26 in run defense DVOA. Not abject, but definitely not one of the best at stopping opposing backs.

Hasn't Gettleman already said that Eli is his guy?

Yes, but that could just be prudent GM-ing. Eli is still an asset -- why would you come out and say you're releasing him instead of creating a market? I kind of doubt they'll sit a top 5 QB for another year of Eli, especially if they can get a pick or two for him.

While at the same time saying that it wouldn't prevent them from using the number two pick on a quarterback.

I get the feeling that whether it comes from the draft or free agency, they're going to be looking for a solid back up next year.

I get it, Gettleman just seems like a completely no BS guy. Considering Eli's status in that organization I doubt he'd come out and say that if he didn't mean it. If he intended on actively trying to deal Eli I just think he would've stayed quiet.

Eli is old and at the tail end of his career. They should absolutely be looking HARD at QBs with that #2 overall pick.

Fair enough. Cousins would also be an interesting (and better) option if they could make space.
