Our O-lineman are getting a lot of praise, yet we are terrible at running the ball?

Part of the run blocking in the second level goes to WR's too. We are seeing more 8 man fronts which is partly because people dont respect our wr's able to catch from cam and also play call has cam running immediately in shotgun. A more surprising reason also is because our WR's keep getting hurt the guy replacing them blocking isn't as good. Ive seen byrd and samuel do some great blocks to open things up. Now it seems CB's are just gunning open to receivers.

Norwell, Turner, and even Williams seem to be getting a lot praise this year from various sites, yet without Cam we are bottom 5 in rushing yards and bottom 3 in ypc

In every Mccaffrey and Stewart thread everyone blames the line for their lack of production, yet everyone wants us to back up the brinks truck for a gaurd.

So what is it? Do our RB suck or is our line overrated

Yes when your QB career completion percentages is horrible would you not stack the box??

The backs have no momentum going into the line during a read option and the lineman have to hold their blocks longer as well while Cam decides where to go with the ball. Neither of these help the backs at all.

We weren’t using the read option much the first half of the season, and our running game was even more pathetic

It was until we started using it that we had some success

pass blocking is good. run blocking, not so much but a lot of it has to do with scheme.

Where do you get that from? I was listening to a matchup show this week that specifically broke down offensive vs defensive line playoff matchups and mentioned Carolina had a top 5 RB block line this year and they have been the top rated team over the last 5 weeks (or maybe it was 7 weeks) in run blocking grades.

Pass blocking was the weaker of the two.

Before the KB trade, we had the worst run blocking in the league. After, we had the best.

recently, we started losing our WRs so defenses aren’t afraid of stacking the box. Hard to do much in the passing game so lately defenses work against the run with success.

Do you have any proof that either one of these is true?  I can't imagine Curtis Samuel or Byrd had defenses quaking in their boots.

Our offense was not good before KB left.  It was not good after KB left, but our defense forced more turnovers.  Stewart had 6 games in which he averaged more than 3.5 yards a carry.  3 before KB left, and 3 after.
