The Cam Conundrum

Curious, what’s your take on a black man criticizing Cam’s work ethic and leadership? Those exact critiques have been parroted verbatim by the likes of Cris Carter and Shannon Sharpe this past week on their respective programs. I don’t agree with them, but if you automatically associate those types of criticisms with inherent racial prejudices, then what happens when the ones propagating those kinds of assertions are black themselves?

I am black and i have BEEN saying for a LONG TIME that there are plenty of black people that hate cam just as much as white. Its nothin new to me, the guy has ALWAYS rubbed people the wrong way doesnt matter the color.

I'm not addressing the entirety of this long winded rant.

All I will say is I've made no attempt to make anyone's opinion the end all be all. You, yes you, are the one who barged in and cited opinions of 2 men who happen to be black and used that as the basis of your argument. I didn't do that. I simply responded to you doing so. You now posturing and falling over yourself to make me look like a reverse racist of some sorts is absurd and laughable.

The fact that you think there’s actually something called “reverse racism” tells me all I need to know about you and your credibility on anything racially related. Not that I even tried to paint you in any such way, so I’m not quite sure what you are projecting upon yourself.

I just hope when you get older, you’ll be able to open your mind and allow your views to be challenged by others in a way that promotes logical discussion instead of digging your head into the sand and screaming “RACIST! RACIST!!” when someone proposes an alternative view. That is not productive. Which is why I don’t even care to reply to people like “NeedSomeD” cause regardless of what point he is trying to make, he is doing it so poorly that it doesn’t even justify a response. It is becoming quite apparent that you two are much the same, just on opposite ends of the debate...you are both equally obnoxious to the detriment of the cause you are trying to support.

One day you will learn that the world isn’t as black-and-white as you have been led to believe...no pun intended.

And I know, I know...”You are a racist, don’t quote me anymore, etc. etc.”...I know the shtick. Save your breath unless you actually want to contribute anything worthwhile.

Once again...once again. Are the shitbird "fans", really at it about Cam, again. Question, what QB in the entirety of this franchise could you compare to Cam? To bitch about him is absurd. You are LITERALLY expecting people to debate the real accomplishments of Cam vs some bullshit supposition, of a yet to exist player.

One even went as far to say that although there are people who hate on Cam because he is black, not everyone who criticizes him is a bigot. No poo! Now let's stop playing the intellectually dishonest game. Bigots know being an outward bigot is frowned upon by society at large, so they couch it in soft language, pseudo-critiques and double entendres. All of you, "the racist exist but its not me, me, me"...give us advice on how to spot them then.

You've been on the defensive from the word go.

NeedsumD is an obvious troll, hence why I have yet to give him the time of day.

My opinion regarding some of the character attacks on Cam Newton related to work ethic and leadership is that some, not all, some, are rooted in a form of racism or stereotyping. Certain people have expected conformities surrounding the quarterback position. Some of those are kind of reasonable, others are thinly veiled ignorance, like nitpicking celebrations to the point of being deeply upset for instance. Whatever kind of disagreements that I might have with other posters is for another discussion. You're throwing everything but the kitchen sink at me here so considering we've interacted maybe one time before this, I'm going to assume that the fact you take this so personally seems to indicate you don't take kindly to racial discussions. And that's fine, but you initiated here. Just remember that.

White fans probably hate Cam because of his celebrations and bad QB plays. Black fans probably hate Cam for the exact opposite: not speaking enough on social issues.

I guess this is the prize that comes with by having a black QB. You cant get by a day in life without not being able to have a football debate not involving “racism”.

Well, yes, welcome to the world of Blackness....it ain't ever easy but ain't it GREAT!

Phillip Rivers isn't a "hard" worker either because those throwing mechanics are worst than Cam.

Now I get to live like a black man for once?

Like I said, it ain't easy but you'd never want it any other way....hell, it's much more fun because they have it all wrong.  For one, most white people will never truly relate to black people...they don't have to.  But we live in a white world so we understand everything about that  BS.

Considering the Panthers have trotted out some terrible Black QBs in the past that were involved in very little dialogue regarding their race I think you're full of crap.

Cam is the best QB this franchise ever had, and instead of creating a weekly thread of "when the hell are we going to sign some offensive talent" the weekly thread is someone's wetdream of drafting the next lunch pail hero with killer accuracy.
