Panthers dependency on Cam Newton

Listening to the radio this morning, Ben Hartsock was talking about the WC games and said that the most interesting game would be the Cats vs Aints because basically if Cam is on his game the Panthers have a chance.. if he’s off we lose.

So I’m wondering if there has ever been another qb that a team asked so much of with so little around him.

Yes. The Patriots. Brady would work miracles with Funches (Lafell) and MCM (Edelman). The Panthers just need to accept that they have a very inconsistent QB (like 30 other teams in the NFL anyway). Cam doesn't play the game to be great. He plays the game to prove people wrong.

Let's just hope we get the good Cam for the next few weeks, as he tries to prove people wrong.

The Steelers usually depend on Big Ben's mood. When he is on, the team is great. Same for the Falcons, ... Have you watched the Seahawks (Wilson) offense?

It is extremely hard to be Brady.

Absolutely.

Look at the Packers this year?  They are more dependent on ARog then we are on Cam.  Look at our record when DA starts vs theirs when Hundley or whoever their back ups have been.

Also the Saints.  If Brees went down...they're absolute toast.  Same with the Steelers, Cowboys, Seahawks, Raiders, Falcons, Lions, and Chargers.

Brady and Rodgers’ teams may be equally or more reliant on them as Cam. The difference with Cam is the reliance on him to produce in more WAYS than every QB, including them. QB being the most important position in sports mostly comes down to the productive passing, calls at the line, and moving the team downfield to score.

Cam is the only QB relied on heavily to do it both with his passing and running. The Panthers ask him to be the most productive on the team at both functions. That’s what makes his responsibilities greater.

There is a difference with Brady he has a great coach and coordinator. That is part why most back up was still come in and win. Cam has an average coach and below average coordinator. Not to mention Brady has weapons. They have always had tight ends end and slot wrs. They fit the system well. We are still trying to find an identity on offense which causes the offense including Cam inconsistent. Brady knows his offense and any back up Qb. We are the only playoff team that has no offense identity probably only NFL team. I am Tom Brady fan and yes Is a great Qb but he is been in that same sysem for over a decade.

The 3 games Gronkowski missed, Brady had 4 TDs to 3 INTs, with a passer rating below 80.

With Brady he had his team put together especially to fit his abilities but Cam don't but if he did he may be winning more games.

Also Cam has to be great at both because of who we have surrounding Cam. We have no playmakers outside of Olsen and right now he is not performing since the injury. These wrs are garbage. Cam can throw a perfect pass and it is 50% catch rate for what we have in wrs. Let that soak in. You have to look at what surrounds the Qb to make sound judgements on if a qb is good or not. For what Cam has and has accomplished he is a good Qb. If you have no line and poor wrs your completion and yards are going to be down. Couple the fact no training camp and injuries in wrs what do you expect. Best scenario is 2 tightend sets bc wrs are garbage and 2 back sets.

Debate about Wilson? He does all the running and passing for the hawks and he’s better than cam

Disagree about Cam. He has bad games but he has a confident style of play. And he doesn’t have enough  help in the receiving core. I think we would have seen some amazing games out of Cam if Byrd or Samuel were still in the line up. Now we have to play tight, grind it out style games.
