How is that. The winning percentage is counted as the number of games you win as a percentage of games you win and lose. Ties don't count for or against so you have won 0 divided by 0 which gives you .000.

As someone else has stated, a tie gives you half for winning and half for losing. Tie 1 game you get .5-.5. Tie 2 games, you get 1-1. Tie 3, 1.5-1.5. Tie 4, 2-2. Double that its 4-4. Double that its 8-8. That's a .500 winning percentage.

mathematically speaking using normal arithmetic like you had done and not some sort of mutant creation this isolated group of mathematicians you're referencing use dividing zero by itself does not give you a value, and certainly does not equate to .000.

The NFL has done a very good job of limiting the number of tie scores to which teams play, from sudden death overtime instituted in 1974, to two point conversions (adopted in 1994).
