There is NO city that’s going to “pony up” what these a$$holes want and/or that 24 owners will approve!!!!!!  We’ve been through the toothless list-Portland, Salt Lake City, Virginia Beach, San Antonio, San Diego, St Louis, Toronto, Mexico City, London, Timbuktu, etc.  Freakin’ TOOTHLESS threats!!!!!!!!!

Charlotte seems to take the threat a little more seriously. They've been in near panic mode pretty much since the announcement that the team would be sold.

I do think it's very possible they get a new stadium, perhaps within Charlotte, perhaps close by.  And yes, the NFL, the city and perhaps even the state will be part of the deal.

You can gripe and huff and posture about it all you want to.  What you can't do...is stop it.

You're free to "not accept the horse s--t", but if that's your choice, don't complain if the team winds up moving to a city that will.

As of right now, the team is only contractually bound to the city through next season.  Practically speaking, they'll be here longer, but how much longer isn't guaranteed.

And no, the drop in NFL ratings is not going to prevent that from happening.

this guy tbh uses his political views to color all of his views. he sees a 9.7% drop and is all wrapped up in political stuff and thinks that the NFL is failing because that's a certain narrative that's being pushed for certain reasons.

the NFL accounted for 33 of the top 50 shows this year. and that's a program that's only running for 17 weeks out of 52. the NFL absolutely dominates American entertainment. no prospective buyer is sincerely going to say "well the ratings were down 9.7% so i don't want to own a piece of 33 of the top 50 programs."

I'm pretty sure the city of Charlotte doesn't exactly plan on using the ratings as a negotiating tool.

The Charlotte City Council economic development meeting with Marcus Smith alone showed how mind numbingly clueless they truly are-there truly are no words for how clueless they apparently are with this “threat” either if they take it seriously.  Looking under the hood and examining the vast issues with each and every possible relocation spot exposes this sham for what it is.  It’s not difficult.

I think current PSL owners who have a clue and have a working voice, phone, email, or social media account, etc. have more power than you think.

These imbeciles are literally going to cut off their cash flow with one amazing turn of the nozzle by shunning those that’ve made this happen since before the first kickoff.

Charlotte council and mayor are acting like it is a possibility that the Panthers might be moved. No way will that happen. They are just gun shy from the hornets doing it before. The NFL won't make that mistake. Sabates is trying to low ball it and already whining about needing a new stadium.  If he is already doing that then he doesn't need to buy them.

We will get a owner that will keep the team here and keep BOA for another 10 years at least.  Then you might see a new stadium around 2030 which would make BOA around 44 years old.  That would be reasonable. But to build one now is stupid after the upgrades that have been done.

Superbowl is a dream in the near future. Charlotte still doesn't have the hotels or infrastructure to handle one.

I don't think the State will agree to any deal that has tax payers footing part of the bill, unless there are some significant changes in the legislature in the next couple of election cycles.  Reps from the North, East, and Northwest parts of the state are unlikely to support tax payer funding of a new stadium.

Keeping the team in the Charlotte area, I buy.

Keeping them in BOA?  Not so certain of that.

No one is going to spend 2.3-3b to buy the team, then turn around and not want a new stadium or major upgrades to BOA. When I say major I'm talking about 500-700m in renovations and upgrades. Either way if Charlotte and NC wants the Panthers to stay past 2020, they'll be voting and approving 350-400m for upgrades or a new stadium. Anyone who thinks otherwise, either hasn't been paying attention to the NFL on BOA stadium or has thier head in the sand.

And if not, where is the Garden of Eden overflowing with said funds that awaits in 2022 if Felix the jackass and 24 owners so chose?

Head in the sand-that’s funny.

I'd agree.

The fact that there's a group trying to spearhead a stadium effort just across the border could play into this.

The Superdome was over 3 decades old when the worst natural disaster in US History struck nearly 13 years ago and devastated New Orleans and the dome.  Yet there we’ll be tomorrow afternoon.

BOA should be the home of the Panthers for many years to come.
