I have a hard time believing this rumor bc NFL Network or any other major network hasn't reported it. It's hard to keep these things from mass media.

I think it would be unusual, however I could see Ron choose a long term deal in Chicago, if he is uneasy with what a new owner would do when his deal is up after next year.

The Bears can have him...  I would welcome the change but he has to take Shula with him !!

Charlotte media has a hard on with wanting to speak stuff in existence. They did the same thing with all the possibilities of the Panthers moving talk.

With everything. If something big happened in another city, they'd find a reason to strike up fear here.

I don't really buy it, but there are two possible conditions where I could see it.

One, we win the Super Bowl.

Two, we get absolutely embarrassed by the Saints and Rivera wants to leave on his own terms rather than worry about what new ownership will do.

Even as a Rivera critic though, this is not something that I want to see happen. Given the ownership timeline, if Rivera were to depart now, then Marty Hurney is in charge of picking our next coach.

Not a situation I'd look forward to.

I think Hurney is here for another year at least.  I would trust new owner or owners to not let Hurney solely pick a new coach for us.  I would really like to see what a new coach could do with the core of players we have.  Hire a new gm next year.  Rivera will not ever bring a SB trophy home to the Carolinas.  He isnt a good enough head coach.

If he is under contract I didn't think he could leave without the Panthers agreeing to part ways or coming to an agreement unless Rivera can void his contract at any time.

This may lead back to the same article. Didn't read the other one (link). Would make some sense if it was for the Bears job and due to the uncertainty in Carolina.
