More so than ever before, Newton has been the lifeblood of the running game, while also trying to change his passing style to be more quick-game oriented. The talent drop-off throughout the season and the Panthers receivers' inability to get open in the quick game (or at all) only magnified Newton's necessity to run. Glad someone in the national media gets this. @Jeremy Igo tweeted something similar to this the other day. He basically said cam is 95% our offense and covers up the terrible coaching staff. If he’s off, we get Atlanta and Chicago.

If Newton main targets aren't there, he needs to go to the flat or CMC if it's there, he has to not force the issue. Other than that, I believe we should limit Cam runs so he can have enough energy to scramble if his first target isn't there I think. Wilson does it all the time

he will have to check down more than Meg Ryan, that is the only thing that is consistently open, especially a delay or chip route.

Which makes the suckage of 2016 even worse tbh We thought the consolation of that horrible season was getting a top pick that could help Cam out. Nope. More of the same, even after spending our first two picks on offense.
