Do You Think Christian McCaffrey will Ever Learn How To Break Tackles?

Yes, out of all the amazing rookie RBs this year, he has the most room to grow. An NFL workout regimen over one to two seasons can spur tons of muscle growth. He will never be known as a power back but he will improve enough the next year or two to justify him being the pick and an all-around back.

Maybe I am missing something but what is wrong looking at yards from scrimmage for CMC? Isn't that similar to looking at total yds (Passing / Rushing) when it comes to Cam? Both seem fine to me.

he doesnt like white running backs, get used to it.

Eh, that's kinda apples to oranges. People have even been including punt return yards. I mean, really? Not to mention Cam doesn't remotely get a pass here if we lose while he's having to shoulder the run game and pass 20-30 times.

The gist of it right now is we need more from our run game. Fair or not Cam shouldn't lead the team in rushing. You would be hard pressed to find any starting QB in the league right now that would be able to lead his team to the playoffs under those circumstances. The identity of this team is a strong run game and a stout defense. If we can't find a way to get CMC success in the run game, we blew an 8th overall pick. I'm sorry, but that's the cold hard truth.

Spin moves and jukes and hurdles. He has great hands. I think everyone thought his speed would be a difference maker, but this isn't the fuging pac 12. that's the difference between the nfl. one team's fastest player in college could be the slowest on a nfl team. i think he needs to work on his vision too if that's possible. he'll be unstoppable in two years. If we get a coordinator in here that doesn't run our backs into a pile and we can spread the ball out, he'll have room. Inside draws would help him a lot too. spread it out, delayed handoff out of shotgun, not a strong formation dive or an option setup. He'd be Kamara level if he was in New Orleans. Then again, the stats don't lie, and it's nice that Cam adapted to having someone out of the backfield, even though he still struggles with realizing that.

Do any of you guys watch our games? Since our OL got it's run blocking a bit better and CMC got some actual carries, he's 68 - 318, which is 4.7 ypc. His lowest amount of carries in the last 8 games is 5 carries. In 4 of his first 8 games, he had less than 5 carries. Hard to get 1000 yards rushing with 117 carries. Even in the second half with 4.7 ypc, he still only had 68 carries in 8 games.

If you haven't been watching the last 8 games, then you likely think he doesn't make anyone miss or break tackles. If you have been watching the last 8 games, you have seen him make a bunch of people miss on runs and receptions. Way more than the first half of the year.

hes still struggling to physically break tackles on contact that was the main point of this thread

I thought the point was if anyone believed he could possibly strengthen and improve, no? That would require one to two offseasons, not a 17 week season.

He is not what we thought he was. He is 28th in total yards from scrimmage. He is not a playmaker. He requires perfect blocking to get to next level. Even elliot has to break tackles in Dallas and he has the best OL. Even bell in pit has to shed tackles. I hate to say I told you so but I told you guys. Cmc  wasn't going to evolve anything but an increased check down pass. He's good he's just not kamara great.  He wi never be a probowler as a running back ever. I will put 100 smackers on it.
