Do You Think Christian McCaffrey will Ever Learn How To Break Tackles?

Sure he has a higher ypc (3.7) than Stew (3.4). But now that the regular season is over, I can say that at the end of the season, hes still being brought down by arm tackles just as easily as he was in the early season.

Do you think its something he can learn to do ? Or does it have more to do with his weight? I could've sworn he was 205 heading into the season and Kareem Hunt, Alvin Kamara are 215, is 10 lbs of muscle that huge of a difference in breaking tackles? Or is it just the elusive style that Christian has used his whole life that he just doesnt want to break tackles?

I think its frustrating to watch him get brought down so easily and hes a top 10 pick running back. And every time I watch hunt or kamara they are bouncing off fools, stiff arming, having their way with defenders.

Not saying that hes a bad draft pick, he lead the team in yards for a non QB and is 2nd in total touchdowns for a non qb so hes obviously a valuable contributor. But I think having at least a little bit ofa power game would help him immensly. You cant just outspeed and outjuke everyone in the NFL, defenders are too good, you gotta have at least some power to be an elite player unless your name is barry sanders.

I don't know if 10 pounds is going to make enough of a difference. Either way it's on CMC to improve. We know he has the potential. We need more from our 8th overall pick. We're reduced to bragging about his "yards from scrimmage".

Certainly not all of this is his fault, Shula lacks basic ingenuity. But force feeding him even more than we already are isn't the answer. CMC should be making more out of the opportunities given to him.

And fans shouldn't be ready to throw our MVP QB in the trash for failing to once again carry our offense week in and week out while CMC fails to break arm and ankle tackles and drops passes for easy first downs.

100% of his focus this offseason should be adding strength. It's not that he's just getting tackled, it's that NFL defenders straight up ragdoll him.

I'm guessing he was counting on his speed and elusiveness being good enough to get him by and it just wasnt. Youd think he could learn some things from stewart who has been one of the best power backs in the league for quite a while when healthy.

This is my only complaint of CMC. I feel like he’s made guys miss only a handful of times as well. I understand he can’t truck everyone, but I hope this skill improves. He is going to be a great player.

eh. I still wish we had traded up for Fornette... Or just drafted hunt..... Or Kamara....Lattimore would have been nice as well.

Without those 2 long runs fournett would have had the worst avg of all backs at 3.2

Maybe I am missing something but what is wrong looking at yards from scrimmage for CMC? Isn't that similar to looking at total yds (Passing / Rushing) when it comes to Cam? Both seem fine to me.

It’s not about learning something from Stew it’s about his physical lack of strength IMO.
