Martavis Bryant

Jesus man.... not a first. Haha..

I'm all aboard (and possibly driving) the Bryant to Carolina trade wagon, but not for a 1.  One of our thirds should get it done.

Oft-troubled, final year of a sweetheart rookie contract and looking to get paid while in his early prime. I think one of our thirds gets him to Carolina.

- Talented veteran playmaking WR with speed and red zone TD potential.... check

- Cheap contract in '18 before Kalil/TD come off the books.... check

- True WR2 opposite Funch.... check

Let's do it..... but not for our #24.

I'd love to have him, but he already has two strikes in the substance abuse program. That definitely has to be weighed. He's also in the last year of his contract. So, we'd be trading for a guy who would need a new contract AND who has two strikes on him so he's staring down the barrel of a year long suspension with another failed drug test. A lot of risk, a lot of potential reward.

I don't know, usually with guys with off the field problems the last thing you want to do is bring them back close to home. For that reason, us and ATL would seem like potentially the worst fits for him.

I think we need to tone it down on the "elite" talk. I'm pretty sure he can only run like 2 or 3 routes.

Yea people dont learn from history just because you give a guy #1 Wr money that dosent make him a number one Wr.  so many teams have learned this about Mike Wallace one of the most recent cases

Also drafting and signing 3rd string WRs and calling them #1 WRs doesn't make them a #1 WR either.

And that's the gamble. How do we know that the player we pick in 3rd round will even make our team or any team in the NFL? Atleast Martavius Bryant is proven.

You also have that 3rd rounder on a cheap 4 year contract as opposed to extending Martavis Bryant to a fairly sizable deal. No one is trading a 3rd rounder for a player on a one year deal. He'd be extended so there's cap ramifications there too.
