Stew saw 8+ Men in the box more than any other RB this year

And Alvin Kamara sees 8 in the box not nearly as often, I wonder if this could be PART of the reason for his tremendous success and Stew's struggles, but nah Stewart sucks.

If you had told me that we would let a legit deep threat walk and try to replace him with a jag or two that couldn't hold a roster spot as a 5th stringer elsewhere not once but twice in 3 seasons while we've still got Cam and Luke in their primes, I would say you were nuts. Alas, DG the "guru" somehow managed to do just that. The man lacked basic foresight, but he's going to turn the Giants into a contender instantly with no QB? Partially, but the 8 man boxes are down significantly for CMC, all the way down at about 21%.  I think this has more to do with Shula's "creativity".  When we run the ball, (atleast the designed runs), it's always known before anyone lines us.  Besides, if you know every time Stewart hits the field, it's gonna be a run play even with 8 in the box, why would you ever consider keeping your safeties out of the box?

Shula is awful and needs to be replaced, but if you think the FO did him any favors with the lackluster approach to the WR's in the offseason while we had the core to make a SB run, you're dreaming.

Because teams cant commit to the run only when he is in the game, whereas it is most likely a run with Stewart on the field.

Yeah I mean, the run game is super predictable.    If most of us at home can call run plays 95% of the time, the people paid to do it definitely will.

No recieving threats= teams easily can stack he box

No Olsen (he missed most of the season)= teams not worried and push both safties into the box

Plus we have the most predictable offenses in the league.  Opposing DC's

And the biggest 

 

 

When you dont even ATTEMPT a shot down field even if its incomplete.  Where is the threat?  There isnt one.  There is no fear, the defense can shove everyone in the box minus the corners 1 on 1.

When we chucked a deep ball towards Ginn 2-3 times a game, it was harder to draw guy in to help in run support

Fournette would be far worse on this offense than Stewart. Stew’s hip flexibility is superior and allows him to break more tackles than Fournette would make. Fournette has poor agility and hip flexibility, evidenced by most of his big runs only being ran in a straight line downhill and being poor at adjusting at the line of scrimmage.

I am firmly on the let's get a new OC wagon. But can you honestly say that between DG and Hurney this year that we've done him any favors with the WR core? It's a shitshow to put it kindly. I think with a better OC we could mask some of the deficiencies, but the lack of run game from our RB's would still hamper this offense either way you cut it.
