Steve Smith Said Let CMC Be A RB

I'm just now coming across this

Let's get to what Michael Robinson said first. I've said it since the loss, Panthers have to throw the ball down the field more. Not enough explosive plays and too much 10 yard routes.

Steve said we need to run the ball and play defense to be successful in the NFC,. He said CMC main role should be just hand him the ball and let him be a RB. Michael responded he's not a RB put him as slot WR. Steve reply lol. I admit I've been expressing that too, but hearing what Steve is saying adds more confirmation that the Panthers need to step up their game at the WR position

But its interesting we have a career FB saying he's a WR and a WR saying he's a RB

We're not using him like Kamara we're using him like CMC...how the fug could we be copying the Saints when they are both rookies being used at the same fugin time. Smitty is off on this one, you use him the way we've been using him only more/better his production as a rookie speaks for itself on one of the worst offenses in the league he has the most yards.

I think what he's trying to say is we're centering our offense around CMC in a swiss army knife kind of role while our run game has consistently been lacking more often than not this season. This isn't even a debate. It's why Cam is our leading rusher.

Add in the fact that we're forced to play a bunch of practice squad level WR's outside of Devin Funchess, and we ended up finishing the season with one of the bottom ranked offenses in the league. Now certainly losing Olsen for an extended period of time only worsened these issues, but there's still no excuse for our offense to be that bad.

When you process all this information and realize there are actual human beings in this fanbase who think Cam is one of our top issues, it's absolutely mind numbing. Especially after we just dropped an 8th overall pick on offense.

@Fox007 Changed Kamara title. I can see your point, but Steve point was treat him as a traditional RB

NE uses RBs like WRs all the time. Its just a way to utilize a RB as a matchup that benefits the offense when you get him on a LB. That is traditional in many successful offenses such as the Rams even back when Faulk was their RB.(and obvs NE)

When he lines up to run the ball, i'm all for using the FB and seems to be what CMC likes anyway.

Yes, but for us why does it seem like Shula designed our passing offense around CMC so he can very effective? Those teams passing offense weren't designed around their RB's to be effective. Rams was still throwing deep and often when Faulk was there. I'm willing to bet if we never drafted CMC, we'll be throwing down the field much more

Mccaffrey said himself he prefers to be a runningback. He said it was the position he has played his whole life and what he is most comfortable doing but he will do what helps the team.

After I heard that.. I stopped debating what he would likely be better as.
