One thing that concerns me is JR will stipulate that any new owner must sign Rivera and Hurney long term, please talk me off the ledge here and say that is unlikely.

He can request it. He's in no position to demand it.

Remember that Richardson is still subject to an NFL investigation that could potentially uncover more embarrassing details.

I'm more concerned about him selling the team to someone who's willing to keep Hurney even without stipulations.

He won't do that. Once he sells it the new guys can do anything they want. But at this point you would be stupid to replace them coming off an 11-5 season and a playoff appearance

You can make an argument to keep Rivera, but Hurney's body of work speaks for itself. He needs to go ASAP.

I would even prefer the cheerleader make the picks on draft day than have Hurney do it.  That's how much I want his ass away from the team.

And honestly that is most likely to happen. This isn't a fire sale because we are Cleveland. There is no reason to decide a new coach or GM until you get in place and evaluate everything. If you just look at what he has done since he came back he appears to have a fairly good job albeit over a short period and yes he screwed up before but I wonder what Hurney's take was on everything and what else Jerry has hidden from the public.....

There's no way a new GM will be hired before the ownership situation is sorted. New owners will want their own guy in place, it's that simple.

Can we just get rid of the current one and let the cheerleader take over?  I have more faith in her.

Recent or ancient history. And do we really know who was behind those contracts? Who really ran the draft?  Hurney or Richardson. Might be more to this than we know given all the recent revelations and cover ups.

New owner would be under no obligation to honor that stipulation and I doubt the league would allow that in the sales contract.

Which is why I think Richardson would try to sell to someone who would agree to it without it being in writing.

That said, any owner worth having would bring in someone with a good football background and allow them to make those decisions.

Nobody who knows what they're doing is keeping Hurney.

I’m betting on Hurney sticking around another year.... because that’s what most of us DONT want.

That's probably guaranteed just based on the timeline of the sale of the team. I can live with that.

More than one year though? Then I'll be pissed.
