Again, we win with Shula.  Greatest window of success in franchise history.

Part of the reason Shula benefits from good D.....is he plays to the freaking D unlike Chud.  Part of the reason our D dominants is the boring Shula ball.   They are fresh.  They don’t live on the field.  Shula controls the ball.

we EASILY could of exchanged Shula for Chud the last 5 years and won less games despite him being more creative.

This is some dumb Shula nut hugging poo right here. Chud had no defense when he was here. They were giving up 25 pts a game. We were a bad team on both sides of the ball but his scheme wasn't a bad part. It was giving DCs nightmares till he wanted to move on. Chuds play calling would win us a SB as we stand right now. Even with crap WRs.

he had no choice....same way he had no choice but to keep rivera.

gettleman came on, he was told how it was going to be and what he was going to do. as soon as he stopped towing the line...he was gone.

Agreed....the old man wanted a hand puppet and rehired his boy. D.G probably told him to shove it and got the door. The franchises problem from day 1. Richardson was pulling all the strings behind the scenes....Just like the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain.

No way. Chud is awful. No one respects him, and he is a very bad play caller. This board would have a meltdown if he was here. Colts fans hate him, players don't respect him, and he is a bad play caller.

Chud is a deep ball on 2nd and 1, Deep ball on 3rd and 1... type of caller. He doesn't know how to run a T.O.P. offense.

our D would give up a lot more yards and points if Shula didn't sit on the ball.  Too many make it a Shula vs Chud thing.  Bigger picture than that.

Rivera matters.  Rivera is what he is.  Shula fits him.

and again, we are in the most successful stretch in Panther history over the last 5 years.

That right there is some Chud nut hugging bro.  Chud isn't some mastermind on OC.  He just sprinkles in old Norv trick plays and people thought he was awesome.  We wouldn't win the Super Bowl right now with Chud.  We would be giving up more points on defense and not being able to keep up.   With the talent we have on O you don't want a wide open creative offense.  We ain't got the dawgs.  We would just turn it over and have more 3 and outs.   Ball control makes sense.

That isn't Shula love.  That is just recognizing what we got on the rest of our coaching staff and roster.

Does Shula suck? Sure.  But as long as Rivera is around, let him have a boring ball control OC.  It works.

Shula and the panthers have made the playoffs now four times in five years.

Excluding 2015, and assuming this weekend goes how we all know it will, they’ve won one playoff game. And that was at home against a 12th string qb after finishing the season with a losing record.

This is a good way to win ten games, let the other teams fall apart, then lose in the playoffs.

Whatever went right on offense in 2015, it’s pretty clear at this point the panthers don’t know how to replicate it. Thusly, they shouldn’t get credit for it.

Regarding Shula -- hypothetical questions here.... can a GM always get rid of an OC if the coach wants him to stay?  I don't fully understand what the coach's rights are regarding his staff.

it depends on the organization but the theoretical drawback is that it would undermine the head coach if it's supposed to be his call.  mike shula was actually fired from the bucs in a similar circumstance with dungy following him out the door two seasons later.

Why? Why exclude 2015?

Because it was a flash in the pan that clearly isn’t going to be replicated.

Is it clear though? Unless you can see the future.... The only thing you are demonstrating is your negative outlook. Which is you, and nothing wrong with that. Just don't use that as a staple in the point that you are failing to prove.
