We're going to have to win the time of possession battle while putting up points in the process. That means going on six minute and seven minute touchdown drives.

The Saints are an astonishing 9-0 when they win the time of possession battle compared to a record of 2-5 when losing the TOP battle. Those two wins came against the Jets and the Redskins (a game they should have lost).

Yeah.....I’m usually an optimist, but this game will suck hard. I might just keep up with it on the phone from time to time. Team just haven’t shown me anything the last couple of games that they can hang with the Saints. He’ll Atlanta was doing quick passes all game yesterday and was killing us. Expect to see the same.

Need to take a different game plan into there next week. Need to line up in I formation and pound the ball. Try and minimize possessions

That’s exactly how we’ll get blown out. That strategy backfires when you don’t have a real running game

In both losses it was actually the passing game that failed us.

In week 3 we rushed for 132 yards and Stewart, McCaffrey, and Cam all averaged over four yards per carry. In fact, we only had 24 more yards passing than we did rushing.

In week 13 both Newton and Stewart averaged over four yards per carry but we didn't minimize possessions and the Saints had the ball 7 more minutes than we did (what could amount to two possessions, which is what we lost the game by).

The Saints are 9-0 when winning the TOP battle, if we lose the time of possession battle we will lose the game.

You theory operates under the assumption we can stop Brees from scoring.

It's not a theory lol, I gave you hard facts. Additionally, you have to stop the other team from scoring to win the game.

The Saints are 9-0 when they win the TOP battle and 2-5 when they lose it. In those 5 games they lost, not only did they lose the TOP battle but they only averaged 20 points per game, a full 8 POINTS BELOW their 28.0 average.

Not even the Rams, who have the number one scoring offense and are ranked outside the top 15 in TOP tried to outshoot the Saints. They played the TOP game winning the battle 35-25 and walked away with the 26-20 win.

Going into this game thinking we can beat the Saints at their own game (which no one else has done this year) is unreasonable.

So yes, if we want to win we are going to have to stop Brees, if we can't then we don't deserve to move on.
