Moose to number three?

Mr. Scot

true..i could see him as a hybrid TE/WR..but not a full time WR..I think we should get Jarrett out there..hard to call someone a bust when you dont get him out on the field

I used to think that if Jarrett isn't out there playing it must be because he isn't up to speed on the things necessary to play the position. Now I think it is primarily Fox being stubborn. All preseason, all we heard was how Jarrett was going to be more involved and he's so ready to play - yet now the season has started, and it still the same old thing. It frustrates the hell out of me.

Moose should be at #2 because.

1) He's a good run blocker.

2) Jarrett is terrible.

3) Jake never sees the whole field, and is unable to see wide open targets that aren't named Smith.

If anyone should be getting reps at WR it's Moore. Jarrett has done nothing, will do nothing, and is a bust. The only reason he's on the team is because of the sunk cost of the draft pick that was spent on him.

I can't say I have too much faith in Moore either, just because we're so bad at finding talent at WR that we still have Moose at #2 and we are still having this discussion.

Moose has had a great career and if things get to a certain point, I think they would start playing younger players more and that might result in Moose being dropped to #3.

i've seen nothing to suggest that Moore or Jarrett deserve to start though.

Steve Smith 20 catches 255 yards

Muhsin Muhammad 19 catches 178 yards

Compare that to the Buccaneers receivers

Antonio Bryant 12 catches 141 yards

Michael Clayton 10 catches 145 yards

It's easy to make Muhammad the problem, but really our offense just sucks.

Muhammad is playing well enough for us to be 1-3

Also, Delhomme missed Smith on a TD against the Redskins throwing the ball too late and missed Muhammad on the pass that was picked off. Separation doesn't mean anything if the ball isn't where it's supposed to be.

I agree...everything coming out the lockerroom was that jarrett is alot better come this year nothing..we have only targeted him two times..how do you tell if someones a bust if you dont get him out there.

the team also lobbied for drew carter getting more throws.

it happened, though.

fox and jake have tunnel vision and will only change or alter their plans/go out of their comfort zone as a last and desperate act.

moose will be the #2 target as long as jake and fox are there.

What difference does it make who is #2 or #3. When the OL doesn't provide Delhomme a pocket or enough time to do anything other than throw INT's. Delhomme is average at best (when he has time), but horrible when he has to try to make quick reads and throws due to a lack of protection. So, it doesn't matter who is on the field, until someone learns how to pass protect.

Gantt thinks they should: Panthers shouldn't look to Moose

We've talked before about Moose taking on the "Ricky Proehl" position. An idea which seems good, until you realize that it means elevating an unproven player to the number two role.

Wondering how many like this idea, and if so who do you elevate?

- Dwayne Jarrett

- Kenny Moore

- Dante Rosario (from the TE spot)

Keep in mind, you also have to replace Moose as a blocker, not just as a receiver.

I'd like to see more of Kenny Moore. I don't think he's as good a blocker, but to be fair I haven't seen enough of him to know. Moose is an excellent blocker so he probably wouldn't be as good there, but I think he would make a good #2. Now whether Jake can find him or not...

:iagree: W could say the same about Moore, Barnidge and Goodson. So much promise shown during the preseason for them not to be used when the games count. Truly frustrating!

He's probably not as good as a blocker as Moose, that's a given. However, if Fox and Davidson had a clue and used him in the 3 WR set effectively (similar to the years Proehl was here), and played to Moose strength as a possession WR instead of a downfield threat, then our offense would be fine. But, as you said, that would largely depend on whether Jake will look for and find him on the field, which he appears incapable of doing at this point.
