Moose to number three?

dante to WR.

this makes the most sense to me.

he is the only one who has been able to stand out and has shown that jake is willing to throw to him.

for whatever reason, jake isn't looking for moore or jarrett when they are on the field. if jake doesn't look for them, they are a waste of space. until we have a QB that will throw to someone else their being on the field is just a waste.

if we had another QB that would consistently spread the ball around better they (jarrett and moore and even barnidge) might have a chance. as long as jake is keyed in on smith and moose and trying to wait around for them to get open, that isn't going to happen.

it won't matter if you make someone else the 2nd WR ahead of moose. jake is always going to look and wait for smith and moose to get open and try to force something to happen with them.

I'm iffy onthat idea, but regardless of the merit you realize this is highly unlikely to happen, right?

i was thinking more like just being used as one. i more just think he should be the #2 target. don't care what position they give him. get him out on the field and get the ball to him.

Seems to me we could easy use Moose in the slot and still line up Rosario or King at the tight end spot on that side as well. We could swing Smitty out wide and put Moore or Jarrett to the other side. Could even try Barnidge out wide which would give any corner match up issues as well. That would force teams to use the safety on top to double Smith allowing Moose and the TE in single coverage.

I agree with a lot of this, I too think that we should use Moore as our #3 and throw him the ball. He has the speed and hands and would take pressure off Smith to open up the offensive play calling. Jarrett is good but to slow to really be effective in our passing game at this stage because of our predictable play calling.

that's how i took it.

And since first and second downs are still running downs for the Panthers, it's hard to go without that presence. The Panthers use fullbacks or extra tight ends far more than third receivers for that very reason.

That limits the opportunities for any wideout not named Smith or Muhammad.

Even if the guy named Muhammad is not making the plays he used to, which, by extension, limits the chances for the guy named Smith who they need the most.

There might be an answer on hand, but chances are, we will never know.

This is the problem I have with our coaching staff. Is Fox/Davidson that limited mentally that they can't design plays to offset the offensive limitations? Why do we HAVE to predictably run on 1st and 2nd downs? Why can't we use a 3 WR set w/Moose, Smith and Moore? Can we not use the extra TEs or the fullback to provide more receiving options to change things up? And since the lack of production on Moose's side of the field impacts Smith's production, and by extension stagnates the offense as a whole, why hasn't the coachings staff figured this out and made the necessary adjustments? I said it before in another post, but when it comes to running an effective offense, Fox and his staff appear to be utterly clueless.

I dont think Donte to WR is a good Move.

Get Jarrett in there..like Gantt said they have only targeted him 2 times..

Dallas Clark is a TE that runs a lot of plays from the slot position. Dante can do that same type of thing. I'd keep him officially a TE but I'd love to see him used in a much more dynamic way. Put him in the slot, split him out and match him up against LB's. The guy has some good receiving skills and being a TE, he should be able to block DB's as well as Moose.

true..i could see him as a hybrid TE/WR..but not a full time WR..I think we should get Jarrett out there..hard to call someone a bust when you dont get him out on the field

I don't think it's all or nothing. I mean had anyone ever seen them run that 2 pt play they did last Sunday as a 2 pt play? How about throwing out of the Philly backfield set? Nope.

didn't they run the Philly formation last year?
