Offensive coaching isn't going anywhere

By the time the new owners are in place, we'll be well beyond the window where coaching changes would be practical.

The only real possibility for changes on the offensive side of the ball would be for either run Rivera or Marty Hurney to decide to let go of Shula and company.

You see that happening?

No, I don't see it happening. This saddens me.

Better playcalling means better opportunities for success despite those things. Over throw here, but then a better call getting a first down on the next and so on.

While I agree with what you are saying, to make that statement without acknowledging the lack of any nfl roster quality offensive weapons (sans Olsen, Mccaffrey, and sometimes funchess) is a problem.

Shula is bad, but he and cam are working with a short stack in the playmaker department.

Olsen is hobbled. McCaffrey is a system player (not really this one but New Orleans or New England, hell even Baltimore).  Funchess would make a solid number two.  Dickson is a middling TE2, Clay shouldn’t be on a roster yet, Bersin wouldn’t make another roster other than ours and Sheppard is a special teams player. Cap obviously can’t hold on to the ball, Stewart is old, and fozzy is a fourth string special team dependent back.

This offseason needs to be completely deficated to overhauling the offense. We need (in no particular order)

-a TE1 to replace Olsen after next year

-a wr 1,3, and 4

-an RB1 to replace stew

What OC would want this job.......QB cant hit the broad side of a barn.

Shula probably wishes he was anywhere but here.

Jake D had a 59.4% career completion % with Moose, Smith, and a host of other decent WRS

Cam is 58.7%...

go be a fan somewhere else.

Agreed.  We should be at the least settled with the fact that Hurney is in control of the 18 draft class no matter the situation at hand with new ownership.  However, his tenure from a longer term perspective is much in the air.

Both the draft and free agency, and with nobody to place any limits on what he spends.

Not like Tina Becker is gonna tell him to keep things cheap.

Too many injury excuses plus Cam Newton putting a huge band aid on the offense with his running.

In other words, same as it ever was.

Shula will be back next year, ready to fug things up once again.

Shula & Play calling was not the issue tonight. Infact many receivers were "NFL open" tonight.  Cam missing easy throws and receivers dropping everything in sight was the problem.

Granted I think Shula is a bottom tier OC, and I agree he would not be picked up as a coach by another team.

I really don't understand why analysts call his run game original. Its legit based off every college option offense. Shula does have good run plays designed, and good screens. The problem is he reverts to being a moron calling run's up the middle for 1 yard gains. And his route concepts have to be bottom 5 of the league.

Sometimes I like Shula's gameplan, sometimes I think he is a moron. How do we get Josh McDaniels to leave Billicheck again.

Why is it so obvious to everyone but this ownership?  How does an Offensive Coordinator that takes a team to 15-1 not get a HC job offer unless everyone knows he sucks?

Rivera has such a good defensive mind yet we can't get out of our own way offensively.

If Shula has all his pieces he is adequate at best.  If he loses ONE piece to his offense he has no idea on how to compensate. No adjustments, no new plays.  Absolutely the same shyt over and over.

It is sad that our DC of one year is on the list as a potential HC but our OC for 5 years isn't.  That should tell you what they think of Shula.

I pray new ownership makes the Rivera make a change or fire them both.

Gettleman reportedly wanted Rivera to dump Shula this past off-season but Rivera "stuck his neck out" to keep him.

As to ownership, Zod has said Jerry Richardson absolutely loves having a member of the revered Shula family on the Panthers staff. We know Richardson values things like loyalty more than actual ability, so...

Louis Riddick this morning had some great takes.  Said after watching the tape from the game that Cam fundamentally was a disaster.  Also that the WRs did him no favors and guys were literally not open at all.  Said part of that was obviously the players themselves but that the scheme and play calling was quote “Training Camp Day 1 Install Type Plays”.  Shula is straight embarrassing, and if Ron can’t see that he needs to go also.   The offense is broken.
