Better playcalling means better opportunities for success despite those things.

Really?

I give up.  You guys win.   If that game was Shula's fault then .. I'm horrible at understanding football.

Matter of fact, if that's the case, there are no bad QB's just bad OC's.

I really hope another team follows Buck and Aikman's sentiment and sees the mirage of Shula as head coaching material...  i'm really, really, really hoping...

Hahahaha! They didn’t get fooled by the mirage in 2015, they aint gettin fooled now.

Unfortunately.

But Hurney can't make decisions that an owner would. Someone has to step in when JR leaves after our Wildcard loss.

Hurney will have full control of the football operations. Tina Becker is in charge of everything else.

I've seen nothing to indicate that Becker would interfere in the football side of things.

Wilks more than likely will get one of the various HC openings, so we have to hope that Between Hurney/Rivera they can find a competent replacement.

As far as Shula goes, his job security seems to be guaranteed with Carolina because nobody else wants him.

Shula never even got a phone call the Superbowl year.

If he is fired tomorrow, he would be unemployed.

WRONG!

Shula was well loved and respected when he was working as a greeter in his Dad’s restaurant!  Word is he can even sub as fry-cook when needed!

I wouldn't go that far, but we do have some issues.  Cam didn't help us today.

Wouldn't go that far? I'm sorry, you don't win superbowls with coaches who are too stubborn to adjust to what's happening. We've seen it too many damn times, we come out with a gameplan and run it regardless of what the other team shows. No in game adjustments, no finding mismatches, nothing. We will never win a superbowl that way, because there will always be a coach in the playoffs or superbowl that will exploit that. I really hope our next owner doesn't stand for this same status quo.

Why would the new owner(s) want to keep them? The offensive coaching staff is complete trash.

By the time the new owners are in place, we'll be well beyond the window where coaching changes would be practical.

The only real possibility for changes on the offensive side of the ball would be for either run Rivera or Marty Hurney to decide to let go of Shula and company.

You see that happening?

Nope. Next year is going to be frustrating.

Agreed.  We should be at the least settled with the fact that Hurney is in control of the 18 draft class no matter the situation at hand with new ownership.  However, his tenure from a longer term perspective is much in the air.
