We will know who should of been our GM

This next draft will have 3 possible panthers GMs drafting. In doing so we will have a real time view of who would have been our best GM going forward.

Brandon Beane

Marty Hurney

Dave Gettleman

All 3 could of been our GM and though we have Hurney he still could go away after a new owner takes over. Im excited to see what they pick. Will we be sad? Happy? Angry? It will be interesting to experience

Am I the only one who wants to keep Marty Hurney? I think he's learned a lot from his mistakes. Plus he won't have Jerry in his way going forward.

Since being back he's made two moves that stick out to me. Trading KB, and keeping Ryan Kalil off IR.

I'll be keeping an eye on what he does at the WR position, which has been his weakest in terms of picking in the draft.

Another thing we must remember is how well him and Ron gets along.

I'll be shocked and disappointed if a new owner keeps a bum like hurney

Saquon Barkley is about a lock to the giants now

Best player in the draft so will be bpa at their spot.

What does he like to do? Run the ball.  Thats how he did it in Carolina, thats how they did it when he worked for the giants and they won superbowls.

Then he will go hogmollies rounds 2-3

the draft will not answer that question.   Hurney easily could beat those guys there.

contracts, roster management, and free agents acquisitions will.

The only problem I have about swapping GM's is the philosophy change.

Gettleman is all about the hog mollies.  To his benefit and to his detriment.

Hurney I felt in the past got locked in on people he liked, and sacrificed picks to get them.  To his benefit and to his detriment.

Offensively we have to get a "reliable" LT and WR's that can get themselves open on a consistent basis.

Front office wise, we have to be able to lock most of our talent up without putting us in cap hell.

If Hurney can do it .. Cool. I remember most of the moves that put us in cap hell were mostly well liked at the time they were made. (except for the Jake deal, that was horrible).

If he can't?  Get someone who can.

The poo was nothing personal, I just don't want to suffer through another fuging decade of Hurney's dipshit ass at the helm.

He also put Hall, Elder, and Cole Luke on IR pretty quickly. He also carried 2 kickers at the beginning of the year, and received no compensation for doing so while trying to trade one.

He also extended TD and Olsen, TD, like it or not, has lost a step and doesn't look as great this year as in years past, and Olsen went down with an injury, which isn't Hurney's fault but the dude is fuging cursed so of course it happened.

He has never drafted a good WR, ever, so keep waiting on that to happen. He also allowed the entire team to devolve to 2-14 and extended that core and didn't understand why they weren't winning.

If Hurney is our GM for the foreseeable future, we're doomed.

Biggest mystery IMO has always been...

when all those crazy contracts were given out after Richardson was being blasted......was that Hurney? Or was that really Richardson.  I think it is Richardson and I think Dave's firing backs that.

Was he really about hog mollies when he barely drafted any Oline talent? Like Turner, Moton, Williams? That's it.

Who drafted Steve Smith? Plus he did draft

Jordan Gross

Ryan Khalil

Josh Norman

Cam Newton

Luke Keuchly

Thomas Davis

Julius Peppers

Geoff Handgardner

Jonathan Stewart

Jon Beason

Charles Johnson

Captain Munnerlyn

Greg Hardy

All these players were very good and no matter what happened to them they were good picks. Hurney was bad at free agents, trades, and cap management. Don't think he didn't do ok at drafting. No one's perfect but he wasn't the worst drafter ever

    • It's sort of funny you guys were so bad with 3s tonight about the same time Silver and LeBron both say the game is broken due to too many 3 attempts. The NBA is almost unwatchable. No defense, refs call fouls for almost anything, guys care more about looking pretty on the court than playing tough, etc. Today's NBA is putrid.
    • It's gotten more complicated with the change of CBS and FOX no longer being exclusive AFC/NFC partners From a home team perspective, the NFL requires the home market (which is typically the broadcast reach of the station airing the game) to carry the game. For times where there is a conflict (let's say, FOX Charlotte is airing some major news event) then the broadcast will go to a local station that FOX Charlotte has an arrangement with -- like the CW, maybe.  Only in super-rare instances would local FOX throw the game over to a major competitor like to WSOC/ABC. But it could happen This is how games that are "exclusive" to streaming will end up being broadcast by a local channel in those home team markets -- because the NFL wants the local market to be able to see the game.  Amazon TNF games will always be available on some local channel in those teams' markets, for example. Or the upcoming Netflix games For TV markets that do not have a local team, then the local station gets to choose from what's available. Ideally, they'd choose a regional game or one that is close in the conference.  In Atlanta, for example, we would typically get one of the NFC South matchups for times when the Falcons aren't playing.
