Dave Gettleman Was A Terrible GM.

Hurney's problem was never getting top talent. The problem was we had no depth. Gettleman was much better at finding little gems to fill smaller roles which is important. Gettleman clearly made some mistakes but Hurney's mistakes were much more detrimental. Luckily, Gettleman came in and was able to build a much more well-rounded team while simultaneously fixing the cap disaster he inherited. The past 5 season is the greatest stretch in our franchise's history and Gettleman had a lot to do with that. For someone to call him a terrible GM is idiotic. Does Hurney deserve some credit too? Of course. But I have very little confidence that he would've built a team as well-rounded as Gettleman did during his time here.

I don't get why people have to pick one side or the other. Hurney did some good things for the franchise. He also made a lot of huge mistakes. Gettleman made some great moves. He also made some mistakes. Put your pitchforks down and think rationally.

overrated not terrible . people on here make it seem like he was amazing and was the reason we went 15 and 1 and thats not true . most of that was martys roster . marty found better talent but taht came with much more risk . gettleman was more consistent but only really found one elite player kk short other then that it is mostly above to average players while missing out on great players as welll  . he was a good drafter but way too  cheap in freeagency and didnt fix problems . marty might have sucked but so did gettleman

Let's not go there. Smith punched his own teammate in the face breaking his jaw. He wanted to be the main man on this team and would have not have let Cam be the face of the offense. D.G didn't take crap from the players. Cut and dry.....cause a problem and your gone.

yeah well...he gone

Well Ole Dave fuged that up too Peppers would had been home years ago instead of going to greenbay had Dave not of lowballed him.

You do realize that Peppers left during Hurney's tenure, right?

And you do realize that when Peppers went to Green Bay that Greg Hardy was coming off of a 15-sack (team record) Pro Bowl season and the team was attempting to sign him long term, but ended up tagging him right before he was accused of domestic violence, don't you?

Finally, you do realize that Gettleman was the one that signed Peppers to come back home, correct?

Peppers did'n leave cause of money he left cause he wanted a change in his life after 09.

Remember Hurney was going to give him a big contract but he turned it down so don't blame Hurney for Peppers leaving cause Hurney was planning on making him the highest paid defensive player in the league.

Star, KK, Norwell, Turner, Funcess, Bradberry, Coleman, CMC, Shaq, Worley (Ginn, KB, and Mitchell even though they're no longer here).

He took over a team with talent but replaced a GM who didn't know how to build around that talent. He added key pieces that worked for what we already had in place. Both GMs played important roles in where we are right now. Both also made bad moves. Those contracts Hurney gave out were AWFUL. We went 2-14 and resigned "the core". We are lucky he hit on his two first rounders after that season or else we'd be royally screwed.

You darn right. And Hurney really earned that Cam pick too. It's not easy building a roster that goes 2-14.

so its Hurney's fault that Jerry tanked the 2010 season cause he wanted a lockout and refuse to spend any money on free agents?
