Defense has looked pretty leaky past few weeks.

i don't think Wilks is ready

I really don't either. McDermott fielded a better defense with about the same tools. Wilks is the reason why NO has beat up on us.

So, does any of this make him head coach material? As this thread misleadingly implies?

That’s not up for me to decide. His resume looks good, though. He had a successful run as a DB coach, producing a shut down corner at the time, and his current defense is one of the top defenses in the league. Some would say yes.

Now, back to you saying he’s not good. What I posted above would say you’re wrong, and terribly wrong at that. Also, you’re saying he’s not good at his current position. Again it’s idiotic to say that now.

He got two head coaching interviews last year when he hadn't even been a defensive coordinator yet.

He's also on the NFL's list of recommended interviewees, so clearly they think he's head coaching material.

I'm not really sure if he's a great DC much less a HC. Rivera was skipped over for years and his defenses were proven.

Folks might also want to remember that there's a guy coaching right now who never served even one year as a coordinator at any level of the game.

His name is Andy Reid.

Reid was Brett Favre's quarterback coach when he took the Eagles job.

The coordinator to HC poo really never meant anything. Being a HC is a different skill set altogether....It wouldn't surprise me to see it swing back to not picking just coordinators. Matter of fact...the most widely regarded best HCs in history weren't OC/DC coordinators with BB being an exception.

I should say that it was a little different. Like in the case of Don Shula and Bill Cowher they were coordinators for only two years. ANd many others were positional coaches and/or HCs then coordinators then back to HC.

I've seen people argue that position coach is actually a closer skill set to head coach than coordinator is.

The difference is in-game decision making. Coordinators do more of that than position coaches do.

So it looks like we'll have Panthers' satellite teams upstate and in the Big Apple haha

....but...I wouldn't put much stock in Wilks.  He's an easy target for outsiders to connect dots with but DG didn't pick the coaches that were in place when he arrived.  This is his first chance at that.

People forget this was the case and  no one knows who a coach he gets to pick would be
