I evaluated them purely in terms of yards gained from scrimmage, who the best Rookie PR/KR is another discussion

  1. 2008 R1 Jonathan Stewart RB Oregon 5'10'' 235/ 184 rush / 836 yards / 4.6 ypc / 8 receptions / 47 yards / 883 yfs ///10 total TDs

  13. 2014 R6 Tyler Gaffney RB Stanford 6'0'' 220 lbs (No stats)

Among Carolina Panthers Rookie RBs McCaffrey has

  • Most total yards from scrimmage
  • Most receptions
  • Most receiving yards
  • 2nd most total touchdowns
  • 4th most rushing yards

Just interesting facts in general

  • We've only drafted 4 RBs in the 1st round in the franchises 23 seasons (and 2 of them still play on the team)
  • Jstew is the 2nd heaviest Rookie RB we've had
  • Cmac is the 4th lightest rookie RB we've had

Ive only been a serious Panther fan since the start of the 2010 season . So how would you rank the top 5?

Stewart has alot more rushing yards in his rookie season , but then again he had quite a few more caries the CMC had .

CMC is going to end up with very close the same amount of carries that Dwill had his rookie season, but way more receptions

CMC has the 2nd most total touches for a Panther rookie RB and should finish with the #1 most touches  (#1 Stew 192 , #2 CMC 186   , #3 Dwill 154, #4 D.Foster 139

I get what you're trying to do, but some of these comparisons to legendary RB's using total yards are rather absurd.

You're comparing a rookie RB who has considerably more receiving yards than he does rushing yards and comparing that to RB's who had a ton of rushing yards and just going "LOOK AT THIS".

CMC is in good position to pave his own way if he can continue to be such a threat in the receiving game especially considering his route running ability and how good his hands are. But comparing him to elite traditional running backs like this just for name recognition is excessive.

I don't see why not , I think it's interesting to compare rookie RB in general . Never said he was on their level it's just a stat comparison for curosity sake and I thought other might be interested

IMHO if they give him lead back carries he could get 2000 yds yearly

Interesting how close the rushing is between McC and DeAngelo. I still think McC can have an impact in the run game similar to our better than DeAngelo in his prime. Plus the threat as a receiver. Way too early to grade the pick but definitely extremely promising and exciting for us to have Christian.

For a comparison to some legendary RBs rookie season total yfs and total TDs

  • Erick Dickerson 441 touches 2212 yfs / 20 total TDs (good fuging lord!)
  • Marshall Faulk 366 touches / 1804 yfs / 12 total TDs
  •  CMC 186 touches 1032 yfs/ 7 total TDs
  • Tiki Barber 170 touches / 810 yfs / 4 total TDs (also had exact same 3.8 ypc) (very similar amount of touches)(CMCs NFL.com draft profile comparison player)
  • Alvin Kamara 185 touches / 1426 yfs / 12 total TDs (Probably the most comparable currently  in terms of how hes used in an offense ) (virtually same amount of touches)
