When will "Mister" speak?

Victim shaming isn't an opinion or actual dialogue.

I don't know why I have to explain this.

You keep accusing people of victim shaming. Im not even sure if victim is the right word for what happened. Maybe it is, but lets hear facts or see proof.

Id like to hear more than one source on him demanding to be called "Mister" because I never saw or heard that before. I personally would not call him "Mister".

Anybody who accepted payment instead of going to the media was a willing participant. As Churchill said, "Madam, we've already established what you are. Now we're just negotiating a price."

This is terrible and short sighted.

If the boss turns my job/workplace environment into a nightmare and I can no longer work there the #1 thing on my mind is $$, you know so I can pay my bills and take care of my kid. Also most people don't want to be at the center of the media's attention especially when you know it's going to bring slut shaming and heavy public criticism your way.

I'd take my settlement and try to move on with my life.

This, from SI's Extra Mustard on the Monday after the story broke, pretty much sums up how I perceive the media feels about this story:

"I had no idea SI was working on this big expose of Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, but we got him pretty good with this report of his sexual misconduct and it looks like he's going to sell the team."

"We got him pretty good."

Not, 'This is a story that deserves to be told to help prevent future victims of sexual harassment in the workplace.'

Not, 'This story deserved to be heard, rather than swept under the rug after a payout and NDA so that it won't happen again in the future.'

No, straight from an SI writer: "We got him pretty good."

Excuse me if I don't find their motives sincere.

Not everyone is built for a long dragged out fight that will be made public. Some just want it all to go away as quickly as possible, so there’s nothing wrong with them taking the money. It’s a lot more complex than “she took the money, so she was a willing participant.”

The dynamic in this discussion is basically identical to that of what has transpired with the allegations that have followed the current POTUS. There will always be a steady stream of white trash men that will line up to defend and grovel before/idolize men like Donald Trump and Jerry Richardson because they so desperately wish they could join that rich boys club and do or say whatever they want without consequences.

This sort of rhetoric is as dangerous as the President's. You can't group everyone with a different view from your own with Donald Trump supporters. He managed to get elected because enough people were tired of the over sensitive/agressive liberal psyche. "We can say Merry Christmas again" rhetoric got him through the primaries.

At some point, both sides have to come back to the middle to make a difference. "Trump Supporters" will never join you on the far left and you still need to live with them.

Honestly dgaf about him speaking or not, I’ve waited too long for a competent owner to care about the details.

I’m a fan of the Panther team, JR imo was never a part of that. Let’s get the new owner in here and just starting winning games.

People quoting the "we got him good" thing from the Extra Mustard section of SI are grasping at straws, not surprisingly. Extra Mustard is the WWE section of SI, not exactly hard hitting journalism.

And to be honest, SI did get him damn good. Were it not for the SI piece, JR would still be brushing against Panthers employees breasts and inspecting their asses on jeans day, and maybe even dropping some not-so-coded racial slurs.

Fugging Kudos to SI for exposing the creepy old soon-to-be former owner of this franchise.

I've always wondered how the Charlotte Observer didn't know about this. Did they know and just didn't report it?

Y’all do know by not speaking combined with selling the team, it’s admission of guilt. So can we please stop celebrating this man. These aren’t just “allegations” he used his position of power to make a toxic work environment to those around him. He’s just as bad if not worse than Harvey Weinstein. Idgaf if he brought a damn football team to the Carolinas. The players and many here are treating him like he’s the victim of some witch hunt instead of the disgusting despicable racist human being he is. The poo needs to stop.
