When will "Mister" speak?

The news broke, the organization opened its investigation, the NFL moved in to do the investigation, JR announced he was selling the team at the end of the season -- basically he fell on his own sword to end it.

There's really not much more to say. The only reason to want it is because, well, people want blood in the arena more than they want justice.

I don't think you understand much about settlements. Yes, it may come about if someone feels they will lose in court. But that's not too common. Going to trial costs a ton of money in legal fees as well as time and stress for JR. We don't and won't know what he paid these "victims" but I doubt it was even close to what JR would've paid in legal fees if he didn't settle. Also, wouldn't have to deal with a long drawn out legal process which would be on his mind the entire time. I don't know why JR settled. But to assume it's because he thought he'd be held liable is ridiculous, and to act like it's "proven" is moronic.

Let me guess, you're not a lawyer but you did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night?

You choose to believe that he is innocent but wanted to save 100k in legal fees and Ill choose to believe that someone who is sitting on a pro sports franchise he paid 200 million for and is estimated to be worth close to 2 billion doesn't sacrifice that investment or his reputation to save an inconsequential (to him) amount of money.

He paid to make these women go away so that he didnt have to suffer the consequences of their accusations.  Pure and Simple.  And he did it BEFORE this heightened state of awareness and #metoo.

This reeks of SI trying to frustratingly bring this story back into the fold. They really thought that they had something which was going to be the beginning of an avalanche of stories they could take all the credit for.

Instead Richardson quietly did the right thing to do for the good of the team and the story has gone away. SI obviously doesn't have any regard for the good of the team and would probably like to see them fail so they could play it up as a "result of the distraction" that the "evil"rich man brought about and they could gloat about.

The story is over, the Panthers don't care, and the best thing you could do as a fan is side with your team and let this stuff fall away rather than the power hungry, political, press.

Agree with this. SI is now stirring the pot and trying to get this story back in the mainstream and get clicks.  Two totally different situations but u saw this type of behavior from the media in regards to the UNC academic fiasco the past couple of years. Story would die down and then they would try their best to keep it alive. Hell some people in Raleigh are still trying to get it going again.

Victim shaming isn't an opinion or actual dialogue.

I don't know why I have to explain this.

He certainly is allowed to have an opinion on a report that has released as many facts as were provided in the Duke Lacrosse and UVA fraternity stories. Just as you're allowed to call him a retard in an open forum.

I believe what I've read so far about Richardson and it sounds pretty slimey, but anyone who thinks they're owed something from him at this point is pretty naive.

Only someone from the facebook and twitter era would think that someone under investigation should go to the media and start blabbing mea culpa's or what ever.

This time some ridiculously high number!! People don’t think anymore, they mindlessly react.

Are you a mind reader? I agree with the idea that settling is not and admission of guilt. Let the investigation play out.

The dynamic in this discussion is basically identical to that of what has transpired with the allegations that have followed the current POTUS. There will always be a steady stream of white trash men that will line up to defend and grovel before/idolize men like Donald Trump and Jerry Richardson because they so desperately wish they could join that rich boys club and do or say whatever they want without consequences.

All those years of keeping players out due to “allegations”, and labeling those players as off the panther radar with “character concerns.” I’ll never forget we stayed away from Dalvin Cook due to him supposedly having “Thug” friends lol.

Well, JR did the right thing in selling the franchise amidst all these allegations as he now has some “character concerns”.

The only people he owes anything to are the people that he (allegedly) sexually harassed. Whether that be explanation, compensation, whatever. He owes us, the media, or anyone else nothing.

Anybody who accepted payment instead of going to the media was a willing participant. As Churchill said, "Madam, we've already established what you are. Now we're just negotiating a price."

    • Happy Thanksgiving y’all. Thankful for a very good team and for this group to talk canes.  Eat drink celebrate our win bs the rags. This team is cup ready.
    • I don't think should be seen as an insult, legitimately. Teddy's floor was consistently a good game manager to his ceiling of border-line top 10 QB who's arm strength didn't blow you away but could make all the throws and generally made good decisions and had some sneaky athleticism.  Teddy started on quite a few teams. He had a good start to his career, had a horrific injury that could have ended his career, came back and played himself into being a starter, got a contract here (and subsequently became another victim of Tepper's impetuousness), and then started games for a few other teams. Teddy could have been a franchise QB had he not suffered a freak injury, and then he just never ended up in another stable situation. He still had a good NFL career that could have been great without that injury. Teddy before that injury did look like a franchise QB, and I dont think that's a bad comp for Young nor an insult in terms of what his career could be based on that comparison.
    • Absolutely the wrong take. We have to run and gun. We have zero post presence. We just have to make shots. We just can't hit water from a boat tonight and we're turning it over to boot. Then you have a poor shooting opponent shooting lights out.  Looks like a long season ahead of us though if Hubert doesn't adapt to this roster. We have to play a pressure trapping D and get out in transition because we aren't beating anyone in the half court.
