Could Raleigh eventually host a Franchise?

That would take it from around 450k to 775k. . .in 25 years. Charlotte right now is still 3.5 times larger than that future population point.

I like how you completely ignore all the 'burbs, Durham and Chapel Hill. This area has well over a million people.

And? That stills leaves the Charlotte MSA as double the size of Raleigh's. Hell, with all the talk of the Panthers moving away from Charlotte because of it being a "small market" how would Raleigh even compete?

Charlotte brings in the Sub-Carolinians

I mean South Carolinians.

Also Raleigh is a college town. With State, Wake, Duke, and UNC all within spitting distance of one another I don't see a major sports franchise working out well there.

I agree, but FYI, Wake is closer to Charlotte than Raleigh.

The talk of the Panthers moving because of Charlotte being a "small market" is like whispers drowned out by the wind.  Moreover,  the way things are headed,  in a decade the Raleigh area will be larger than Charlotte's.

All I am saying is that don't talk about this area like some red-headed stepchild.  It's the fastest growing in this state (and one of the fastest in the country).
