We only have 1 completion in which the ball traveled longer than 40 yards in the air??

nah. Samuel stays healthy he's a good solution.

Of course it's preferable we have a veteran WR in as well, but a group of a Veteran WR1, Funchess, Samuel, and Byrd would be hella good.

WR1 is a Madden term. You have guys who fit your receiver positions within your scheme and do the job that they need to do. Cams two best seasons came when Smitty and Benjamin weren't playing. By all accounts, those were WR1.

We need a receiver the opens up everyone else.

This never ending need to get ‘big chunks’ and the ‘deep ball’, and a ‘true 1 wr’ needs to fuging end already. When Ron tries to force it into his scheme we get fuged. As much as he wants to be that team we are not and we don’t need to be, simple.

The proof is simply, it is basically a comparison of 2016 vs. 2015. It just isn’t needed. Surround Cam like they do any great QB, the o-line first then quality wrs who can run routes and have good hands. 2015 shows this. 2016 shows forcing the ball and deep passes.

keep throwing Olsen those 20 yarders to keep the defense honest and make Cam take what he is given.

Ryan needs his Jones to lob it up to, Dalton his Green, Stanford, megaton etc. Cam is much better than any of those guys he needs an online to give him a little time and someone who can catch. That’s it.

Love seeing every post saying It's cuz we don't have a deep threat...have you actually watched Cams deep balls? Either horribly overthrown, or lands out of bounds. It has nothing to do with us not having a deep threat. It's his choice in targets, poor accuracy, and the play selection for the personnel we have. Almost all of his deep balls have gone to Funchess, who can't out jump Coleman and won't fight for the ball, let alone that he can't get separation. When we have had Byrd, Clay, Samuel out on the field, they never get the look, Byrd got 1 against the pats and it was under thrown into double coverage. It's not a lack of speed, that's for sure. Quit saying it's because of the WR speed and look at other factors

Lol I see how this board works, but not one single person on her has an opinion that matters to me, I know what i see on the field and I'll be the first one to say Cam is to blame for our lack of deep ball success and he needs new coaching, but I'm just a peon with a realist mentality

The Cam TD pass to KB vs the Lions in the only “deep pass” I remember us completing this entire season.

We have to be dead last in the league when it comes to deep passes. Which is a shame considering that’s Cam’s strong suit

I can remember several occasions where the WR was wide open but fuging Shula and Rivera over threw them by 10 yards.  I mean I think it happened 2 or 3 times in one game.   I would have said Cam over threw the WR but we all know Cam doesn't miss wide open WR 's on deep routes!! Yeah Yeah I know I don't deserve Cam and I'm a racist and any other name Tiger and Red can come up with.

I was very excited when we drafted Samuel.  I don't think there's any other way to describe it...he's just a bust.   Should have chosen Kamara.   Will he do better next year?  He has a tall hill to climb, his drops killed us in the Bears game and then another one caused his second injury.   I guess we'll see what he's made of next year.

Desean Jackson was the easiest solution to all of our offensive problems but we didn’t even have him on our radar.

And if this dumb organization thinks Samuel is the answer going into next season we’ll be having this very same discussion next December

Man I was fapping to signing shad the whole offseason. Would’ve been amazing

you cant call a guy a bust after one season while being injured

they still couldve drafted Kamara in the second round  and still have Samuel

Please show me the nfl tape that displays Samuel, Byrd and Clay as great deep threats. I want to see it

Just an FYI, but he mentioned Byrd against the Pats. He was wide open for a TD but it was under thrown. He got well behind the secondary.

One play = deep threat

btw show me that play, I know against NO he got deep but the defender made a finger tip play

Simple answer to this: Cam's shoulder. Considering how much he struggled just to get the ball ten yards down the field early in the season, there's no doubt in my mind that deep passes were going to take a big hit. From everything I've seen, I don't think he has overthrow a deep shot once.
