Byrd to IR, and other Tuesday news

This is a tough break, but i don't think there is a WR out there that we could pick up that is going to come in do more than the ones we have had on the team all year learning the playbook. Not much consolation for THIS season, but next year looks pretty good at WR, especially if we can add someone to go with Funch, Samuel, and Byrd. Of course that is IF they can healthy.

Maybe fanbases of teams who have amazing WRs and are out of the playoffs. I want us to upgrade WR as much as any position every year. But to get fixated on it when the team is 11-4 is ridiculous. We're in much much better shape than teams like the Bucs, Broncos, Bengals, Lions, Dolphins, etc. who have some damn good WRs yet their teams are horsesh*t and out of the playoffs.

If you think we're in good shape at WR heading into the NFC playoffs with offenses like the Saints and Rams to compete with in the fold, you are either outright dumb, or just lying to yourself. Whichever scenario it is, I can't help you if you refuse to see it.

I think we're in good enough shape overall as a whole team to compete with any team in the playoffs this year. If you don't think that then why would you even bother watching the rest of the year? Join us next year if you'd like, maybe we'll have some better WRs then for you to gawk over.

Oh there it is, the patented "well why don't you go root for another team then?" argument.

Hard hitting commentary.

It's an honest question. If you're 100% sure we don't have any chance of winning in the playoffs this year then why would you bother wasting your time watching and following the team?

Did we not beat the Vikings, Packers with Rodgers, Patriots in Foxboro, and Falcons? And came damn close to beating the Eagles, who with Wentz were blowing teams out of the water--and that's despite Cam having a below average game for him and bounces not going our way with a couple picks off our receivers hands that went right to the Eagles, Luke's injury, etc. It's damn hard to get 11-12 wins in a season, no matter who you play.

My point exactly......This team is finding ways to win...PERIOD!! Worley and Bradberry didn't look so hot against Tampa, but against Green Bay and Minn. they each had int's in both games.....If they can continue to get picks and gain confidence, and the defense as a whole can continue their upward swing in the TO department, look out. Defensive consistency is key for this team.

Please quote me where I said we have no chance in the playoffs. I'll wait.

Not the exact wording but the way I read "good shape" is that we can compete with any team in the playoffs. If you define it differently, then I apologize. But I read this as you don't think we can compete with the Aints and Rams due to our WRs.

You are literally retarded if you are getting "we have no chance whatsoever" from that post.

You're right...We're not in good shape at WR. But WR hasn't been our strong suit all season, yet despite that we STILL have an outside shot at winning the NFC south, albeit it's slim. Regardless we're in.....After Bears loss a lot of us, myself included, thought we wouldn't even make playoffs.

We have a shot because our franchise QB is leading our team in rushing. There's not a snowballs chance in hell we make it to the playoffs without it. That aspect has directly compensated for our inadequacies in the receiving game. Now our depth at WR just got even more thin. So people saying "well we made it this far so why worry now" are completely missing the point.

I don't think anyone here misses the fact that we're thin at WR. And every team we've played has known and game planned around that.....Now how much has that mattered?? You win with what you have, not what you wish you had. In the end.....Defense wins championships....Most of the time.
