Cam Newton is Now The Leading Rusher for The 2017 Carolina Panthers

We're employing an offensive philosophy that I've seen twice before.

The Falcons employed a similar attack in the early 2000s with Michael Vick at the helm.  It was run run run all the time.

Likewise, Buddy Ryan ran his Eagles teams with the idea that as long as Randall Cunningham made 2-3 big plays a game, his defense would handle the rest.

Neither of those teams won a championship with that philosophy, or even got close, for that matter.

If  Cam scrambles great

But we cant risk the starting Qb getting hurt

Panthers should draft a leading back next season

CmC is a great change of pace guy

I'm not in favor of an offensive philosophy where Newton is one of the primary rushing options.

Unfortunately, our current offensive coaching staff is, and when they've tried anything else, the results have sucked.

New offensive coaching is badly, badly needed.

Sure. but i would rather copy what N.O. is doing with Ingram and Kamara

hard to defend when you got a bruising Rb and a Rb who can run it and catch it out the back field on the field at the same time

Fun facts:

On Ron Rivera teams (2011-17) based on "running the ball and playing good defense"...

1. No Ron Rivera team has had a 1000 yard rusher, and

2. Ron Rivera team's Total Defense Opponents Yards Per Game rankings have been 27, 10, 3, 6, 4, 21, and 7 for an average rank of 11, and

3. Ron Rivera team's Total Defense Opponents Points Per Game rankings have been 27, 18, 2, 20, 6, 26, and 11 for an average rank of 16.

4.  And has had a 2 RB system every year he has been a Panthers HC.

5.  And if you add Cam it s a 3 RB System just one RB throws the ball. LOL

I'd like to have their offensive coaching.

Sean Payton understands play design in a way that Mike Shula never will.

If Payton had McCaffrey?  Oy.

The funny part is people act like we haven't been running the read option since Cam has gotten to Carolina.  A its the only way to keep defenses honest with Cam on the field.  B ya'll would be complaining if they didn't run the read option because they wouldn't be using Cam properly.  C lets be honest he's a much better runner than a passer.  And I'm ok with that, just come to the realization that he will never be a Drew or a Brady his athletic ability is his biggest weapon,  So stop acting like him leading the team in rushing is a giant surprise its not the first time or last time.   Not a pocket passer and when they try to force him to be one it only gets worse not better.   So move on Cam is who Cam is he is going to have poor passing performances and great passing performances but his biggest weapons is his heart and his legs to his on detriment at times.

I just hope we don't waste every 1st down in the playoffs with a Stew dive for no gain.

Rivera was quoted today saying we were going to use CMC more as a WR going forward since byrd is done for the season. So expect a lot of Stewart runs up the gut in the playoffs and alot of 2nd and longs, and 3rd and impossibles.
