I am not a contract or Cap expert but I believe his contract was set up for us to cut ties with him after 2 seasons if he didn't pan out well and our hit would not be too bad.

If Stewart is cut in the 2018 offseason, the Panthers would save $3,750,000 on the cap with $1,500,000 in dead money.

Yeah this is the NFL, maybe the Bengals or some non-contender. People fall for former high picks all the time and assume there's something to salvage, though in this case there isn't. Ol' One Yard Christian will see a few more paychecks at least.

Well he averaged 4.3 per carry yesterday not 1 and is one of the best pass catching backs there is

Cut Stew, cut McCrapfrey, let CAP have a go, and count on SuperCam to fill in what's missing until we draft a winner...I say go for an elusive type in R3.

"Cut Mcrapfrey"

Hey someone doesn't know how football works

CMac as Cam calls him, done with the CMC which gets on my nerves for some reason.

hes really coming on, is like a poor mans Marshall Faulk so far and getting better.

everyone has wanted CMac to get more carries and touches and that’s being done.

I actually play football, and you're going to be watching me in the league four years from now - maybe cut the attitude.

So you know football and you really think they should cut him? Tampa will pick him up then beat us

The problem with that is that Bo Scarborough isn't even a starter on his own *college* team.

Wouldn't worry so much about not being a starter for Alabama.  Drake wasn't a starter either and he's starting to look like a solid NFL RB.  Willie Parker was virtually non-existent ar UNC and had a few great years in Pittsburgh.

If he has the skill set, actually not being a starter and having less wear and tear can be a significant benefit.

Havent paid much attention to Scarbrough but he could be a solid mid round pickup.

Scarboro can be. a solid short yard back for us and replace Stew Cmc should get most of the touches as he offers run and catch options

bo will be a steal pick if the panthers got him. look for penny, bo or Ronald jones all three are monstet rbs

I doubt we draft a back before we see what we have in Cmc and Cap. Stew has already lost his starting job to cmc and maybe just a short yardage guy going forward

If I were the one with the power , I'd cut Stew and Fozzy . Keep CAP , CMC, and always have Armah active to be a 1 yard and less option and emergency RB.

I wouldn't spend another draft pick on a RB. Next season its time to give both CAP and CMC high volume of carries to see what they can do . Start CMC given him 15-20carries per . If he starts the first game or 2 avg under 4 yards a clip I yank him and give the load to CAP. By the end of the season we will know with absolute certainty if we have viable RB or not.  If one or both suck ass, by all means draft anotther back in 2019.

This year I sure as hell don't want to spend another pick on a RB . If we have to , then no higher than a 3rd . We have extreme needs at DE , Saftey that really need to be addressed early in the draft imo.

I would get a real WR in free agency to go oppiste of Devin , and kick the tires on Moton to see if he's any better at ALL than M.Kalil sorry ass

You can never have enough RB's. Draft one late in the upcoming draft. Let Cmac, CAP, Rookie, and Armah battle it out at TC.

K.

Sure.

But u do know cutting McAffery would put more dead money on our books yeah?

Even if you stand beside the logic that he should be cut, there'd be no positives for it.

Stewart definitely needs to go in the offseason. He's one of the higher paid RBs in the league - if not THE highest paid - and his production levels are horrendous. While I do recognize that our line is to blame for much of that, I also recognize that it's unlikely that line will improve dramatically in the offseason.

I have no problem drafting a mid-round back next year. Taken as a percentage of the whole, mid-round picks tend not to contribute immediately. The one exception seems to be RB. Every year it seems there are at least a couple of mid-round RBs that provide an instant jolt for the teams that draft them.

I'd also love it if we can cut M. Kahlil, but is that even economically feasible? How much of a cap hit do we take?

Kalil will be a panther next season even if he's not the starter (which he probably will be) because his cap hit is $6.75 million and his dead cap hit is $9.6 million.  Now, on the other hand, cutting Stew will save us almost $4 million. Cap hit is $5.25 million, dead cap is $1.5 million.
