First Bucs Game vs Second Bucs Game

First game down in Tampa: Windy day, Bucs have receivers running open all game, but Jameis Winston misses wide open throws all game. Maybe injury related, maybe the wind, maybe Winston just off that day.

Second game in Carolina: Calm wind, Winston on point, Bucs gave receivers running open all game, Winston ends up having a great game aside from a costly fumbled snap and sacks. If the Bucs get their offensive line fixed, they are dangerous.

What did I take from this? The Panthers have a porous secondary. Every team in the playoff race this season has a potent passing attack. They won’t play teams that are bringing back an injured QB or a QB that can’t feel pressure and fumbles snaps in the playoffs. They’ve clinched a playoff spot, but color me nervous about their chances.

nick foles, jared goff (who's clearly a product of mcvay's system), and case keenum.

the only team im worried about facing in the nfc playoffs is the saints. the others are beatable.

Yea no "power house" in NFC this season but the Panthers did lose to Trubisky. if we lose in the playoffs due to the team playing like that again.....................

I mean, Jameis Winston and the 4-11 Bucs just abused the Panthers secondary. Are those teams beatable? Yes, every team is “beatable”. But if the Panthers want to make a playoff run, that secondary has to play WAY better. I’m not hopeful based on what I’ve seen this season.

I agree, our secondary is 4-12 bad.  They constantly miss tackles, take bad angles and get lost on assignments.  We would have lost at least two more games (falcons and bills) if not for fortunate drops.

Fact. Panthers have been more lucky than good this year.

There were huge drops in the Vikings and Jets game as well. This secondary has been bad the entire season

Winston also escapes sacks good no qb other than Wilson can do that

Idunno, I think it was the Vikings qb that had me throwing poo @ the TV. He had to duck through atleast a half dozen arm tackles in that first half. All that said, before this game I thought Winston was garbage ...I've changed opinions. Then again, I'm not sure if he is "that good" or our secondary is "that bad".

2013 panthers might have had worst.

its not luck, it’s the front seven getting there.

when they do consistently it helps nullify our secondary sucking.

when they can’t get pressure every down then we are going to give up chunk plays.

Again 2013.

2015 we had a secondary.

TG3 would have housed that run by barber and the catch by sims.

Hes scary.

You need smart DBs to play cover 2 and those types of schemes. Not saying our DBs are stupid, but every other plays it seems there is miscommunication.

What really pi$$es me off however, is our tackling and lack there of. Ya know, the arm tackles, the missed tackles and the half a$$ed angles they take.

Even if you allow a completion and your man is within a couple of yards, take the right angle, go low and wrap them the diff up. Stop trying to go for the big hits and INTs. This should have been fixed in the preseason
