If it is a "NFL rule" he should be released. If he isn't this just shows me the NFL is a joke when it comes to rules and how/who breaks them.

Even if the NFL forced his release it would only be after he is healthy.  That wont be until the off-season.  If they release him in the off-season he doesn't go to waivers because he is a vet with 4+ years.  So he immediately resigns with the Pack.
