Panthers to extend Ron Rivera, possibly Hurney

Retaining Rivera is the best decision with what the franchise is beginning to go through. 

The new owner(s) will be in place for the GM decision.

Considering the options, and extenuating circumstances, retaining Rivera is about the best you can expect.

Unfortunately, Ron Rivera with total job security is not the Ron Rivera we need if we want to win it all. Expect more conservative try not to lose coaching. People can get mad, but the truth hurts.

As others have said, for all the things we carp about Ron , he's really not that bad. Extending his contract is the right thing to do at this particular moment in time

plus, I believe the players still appreciate his style and fight for/respect him.

continuity and stability are the most overrated things in the NFL. it was responsible for stunting Cam's growth as a QB early on, because we prioritized having continuity at QB coach/OC over bringing in someone actually good at their job.

I don't think those using the term "consistent" to describe Rivera really know the meaning of the word.

I don't mind Rivera staying too much as long as we upgrade at OC. Hurney staying...uh Idk what i will do.
