Saturday Games Thread, Week 16 Starts Today

4:30 PM - Colts at Ravens

8:30PM - Vikings at Packers

Two pretty bad matchups considering the Packers and Colts are totally out of playoff contention .

Raven's have huge incentive to win this game . They pretty much have to win this game to get into the AFC playoff picture. Colts have huge incentive to lose this game , because they have a chance to get as high as the #2 pick in the draft . Also rumors they're going to clean house with the coaching staff, pair #2 picks across the board in the draft with luck coming back and possibly a much better coach coming to town, they could be a pretty interesting team to watch next year. NOT this year though apparently. Expect a blowout.

2nd matchup is at least a little more interesting since its at Green Bay. Vikings are flying high and have more to play for than the Packers since they can still technically get the #1 seed in the NFC if Phily loses out and Vikes win out. I think Green Bay makes this a closer game than the 1st since its at home and they at least have some talent on offense, and Hundley had a few starts under his belt this season. This game, we actually have a lot of incentive to watch . If the Packers pull off a miracle and knock the Vikings down to 11-4 and suddenly we have a decent shot at the #2 seed (we would have to beat TB while the Saints and Rams would both have to lose).

The Viking losing is absolutely the miracle game that probably wont happen. BUT if it happens, I'm feeling pretty good for our chances to steal the 2 seed. Titans vs Rams is in Nashville, and the Titans are playing for a playoff spot, they could be outsted from the playoff race with a loss so they will at least give the Rams a run for their money I'm betting. Falcons obviously have all the motivation in the world, win out they win the division. And we have no business losing to the Bucs.

Also, Titans are far better at home this year than on the road.

I think the titans will loose BUT the rams play jimmy G and the 9ers week 17.

Yeah I'm thinking they'll drop one of those. Much less confident in the Vikings losing one of their last two though. And less confident in the Aints losing one of their next two as well. I doubt there's really any real chance the Falcons wins tomorrow in NO with NO playing with the division on the line and after the first loss.

Vikings were on a 8-0 run before we beat them, no one on the planet was predicting the Panthers to win haha besides some huddlers anyway

I understand the first part, but don't try comparing the upcoming two games to the Panthers game. We were 8-4 at the time and it was in Carolina. The Packers are 3-5 without Rodgers and have looked utterly terrible only barely beating the worst team in the league in OT and also slipping by another terrible team in TB. And then the Bears in MN... Extremely unlikely.

I'm just tempering expectations. I fully expect us to win out and the Aints to drop one with us winning the division. I just think the odds are too long for the 2 seed.

    • Walker/Stewart>Mykel on EDGE for me I’d still like to add TMac.    The only two WRs we have contracted beyond this year are XL and Coker (ERFA). Moving forward with TMac and those two feels much better.
    • The trade below a few years ago was so bad and in favor of the Ravens, tf was Arizona doing Cardinals receive: Marquise Brown and 3rd round pick  Ravens receive: 23rd overall pick
    • keaton is a former Catamount.  The list I saw had only 2--Sanker and Emmanwori.  But I do recall hearing about Bowman. The theory that we are looking for specific hybrid safeties is upheld by this.  Keaton fits the "type" who can play zone or deep and in the box.  "He's a physical player with a high motor and a nose for the football. He has a good understanding of zone coverage and can play in the box as a force defender. Keaton is a leader and has earned a single-digit jersey number at Temple, a tradition reserved for team leaders." At WCU, he averaged 6.5 tackles per game, leading the team before transferring. Sanker has special teams abilities and a high football IQ.  He can cover TEs and RBs and keeps the play in front.  He would be a nice fit as a depth player.  I did not know they met with Bowman at the SR bowl.  He is more of a free safety who struggles in tackling/run support, but that is not to say he is not versatile within his capabilities. Stark is a SS who is a brutal hitter, but I don't see his hybrid qualities--they met with him at the Combine when everyone was in the building, but that was nearly 2 months ago and I don't think there has been contact since. Emmanwori is who they would love to have in my opinion.  NFL Draft Buzz:  "His ability to play in the box, handle man coverage responsibilities, and deliver bone-crushing hits makes him an ideal fit for defenses that ask their safeties to wear multiple hats." So it seems they are looking for a type.  The Keaton pick is intriguing to me because he is a sleeper who would clearly be there in round 5 or later.  They seem attracted to his characteristics, and he is a thumper who can play deep.  To me, the fact that they want 2 hybrid safeties of a certain type is rather obvious.  Maybe I am forcing a round peg into a square hole, but I love trying to see what skillsets teams value to guess draft picks.
