South Carolina should pay.

I'm a Carolinian. Born in NC, and have split time in my life between both states...because of Bragg and Jackson.  I live in Charleston now, but have lived in Charlotte, Asheville, and Fayetteville. I guess the reason I mention this is because I'm unbiased between the states.  I love both.  I love the Panthers so much largely in part because it symbolizes unity in the region I identify with.

As a casual observer, there are a lot of Panther fans in SC.  Especially in Rock Hill, Columbia, Greenville, and Spartanburg.  Even in Charleston there are a ton.  I've noticed three different tricked out vehicles recently that served as mobile shrines for the Carolina Panthers.  Also a double decker Panther bus resides down here...as well as all the usual Panther bud light neon signs.  A wave of Panther front mounted license plates.  Panther hats and shirts everywhere.  Every time I walk into a gas station with my Panthers hat on...someone yells keep pounding.  I'm glad South Carolinians are taking pride and ownership in the Panthers because we are tied to them just like NC. Restaurants and sports pubs are busier.  Business owners make more money.  DJs are booked, vendors are busy, bartenders are making bank.  I'm sure the hotels in York county love the situation they're in.  Not to mention the boost in revenue Spartanburg sees during training camp.  Charlotte is a border city, and I wished they would go ahead and rename Rock Hill....Charlotte, SC...but they won't.

This is all a setup to say that It's time for South Carolina to invest into the Panthers.  While SC shouldn't pay as much as Charlotte because of the physical location of the team...it is only fair that they contribute a percentage of the economic revenue the Panthers create in SC.  When it comes to the sell of the team....if it comes down to a new stadium being the difference between whether the Panthers stay or go....S. Carolina needs to jump in and be the difference.  In this way SC could probably also keep TC in Spartanburg as well.  Also if they were to build a new stadium...they can build that puppy literally on the freakin boarder right by Carowinds.

Must be there new success from after 2015 because as a Panther fan in the upstate for many years I hardly ever saw other panther fans   The biggest fan I ever met was on a random trip in Mexico lol. Most people in the upstate are Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Redskins or insert just about any other team. Most of the people wearing gear had it give to them as a gift and couldn’t tell you more than two players in teams history. Forget them knowing recent game stats.  My guess is that they know they are winning and suddenly they have fans everywhere. People in SC upon my experience never rallied behind the Panthers. I see more fans in Tacoma.

There's plenty of Panthers fans in SC (and the Upstate in particular), but let's not kid ourselves...SC will ALWAYS be Clemson and USC first over any NFL team.  My dad doesn't watch one NFL game a year except for maybe the first half of the Super Bowl, but he watches every Clemson game and plenty of other college games.  Realistically, Panthers will never compete with the history and memories those two schools have in South Carolina.

P.S. Go Gamecocks!

The stadium is paid for. Im not an economics major but why would a brand new owner want to go into debt when there's a functioning profitable stadium.

They could engineer an opening and closing “ dome-ish” structure over the current stadium. That would be unique and the optics could be a potential game changer if done correctly.

Sorry bruh, but everybody knows NC is the more dominant state in the Carolina's. People only go to SC for the beaches. NC is and will always be the better state of the two.

Yeah...if you can tell me a difference between Laurinburg NC and Great Falls SC be my guest.  If you can tell me a difference between Sanford and Sumter please tell me.  Also have you been to Rutherfordton? Shelby?  Fayetteville?  The entire eastern half of NC gets hit with hurricanes or major floods every year.

Both states have pluses and minuses man....every state does.

I don't know about playing 4 games in each state but it would be cool to play a preseason game each year in either Columbia or chapel hill/Raleigh

I like that idea.  I think it was actually cool when the Hornets did it a few years back.

That's true and that's definitely one component...but there are a lot of people who bypass staying in Charlotte and stay south of the border.  It's actually more convenient to do and cheaper. Also no one fills up in Charlotte on they're way back from the game...they wait until they hit Dave Lyle Blvd in Rock Hill. A lot of North Carolinians pay SC taxes on occasion as well.  A lot of you have stayed in Charleston before.

This is more about the negative economic impact that would happen internally within the state of SC if the team were to move.  A lot of people go out and watch the games here.  People don't buy all their merch in NC that's for sure.  People don't drive to the Buffalo Wild Wing in Charlotte to see the game when they live here...catch my drift.
