Panthers vs Bucs... It wasn’t supposed to be like this

2017 was supposed to be the year the Bucs took that next step towards being a dominant team and an eventual winner of the NFCS. With the additions of guys like DeSean Jackson and others there was no stopping this team, Winston was supposed to take that next step towards being an elite QB.

As for the Panthers, a majority of “experts” picked us to finish last in our division, not winning more than 6 games. We were told that Cam would never return to his 2015 form.

Panthers 10-4

Bucs 5-9

Oj Howard

yea he could be good down the road but I havent really ever heard of a rookie TE coming in and taking a team over the top.

they finished 9-7 I guess adding Jackson it wasnt unreasonable to think they could improve by a game or two. but we know they barely beat us twice last year without Cam, and having witnessed these predictions for a while now, we knew the Buccs were gonna Buccs.

Tampa's offense has been terribly inconsistent, which is part of their problem.  But their defense has been consistent,   consistently bad.   The analyst only looked at the big names they acquired (Jackson and Howard) and said they would be better.  But big name acquisitions at the skill positions don't always make a team better.

Don't forget, the Bucs also signed the highly sought after (at least in this forum) T.J. Ward after the Broncos released him.

Jesus Christ the meltdowns around here when we didn't sign Jackson or Ward. All the doom and gloom about how we were horrible and the Bucs were signing all these FAs and were going to be great just like The broncos did a few years back.

When in reality the Broncos are an aberration because they signed a top 3 QB of all time and that brought a bunch of guys in on darling deals to try and win a championship. It worked that one time. The other times you get the Eagles Dream team, the Redskins for the past decade, the Giants, the Dolphins, and the Raiders.

I thought Jameis was the most pro ready QB I had seen come out in quite some time....I look to have been wrong.

I'm just not sure that Winston will ever really be consistent enough to be a "franchise QB"...but he will likely be paid like one.

he actually played pretty well the last game vs the Falcons . What killed them there was their defense, and that backup running back fumbling in their own red zone  and the Falcons recovered late in the game. Then their kicker missed the game tying field goal lol.

Bucs had lost some players in that game also and that did not help help them either.
