Brandon's Positively Pointless Power Rankings Week 6

1. Colts

Peyton Manning is on pace for one of the best years in his career and it doesn't seem like any team is currently capable of slowing down the Colts' offense. The defense has been playing spectacularly as well despite the loss of three starters in the secondary who have a chance to get healthy during the Colts' bye week.

2 Giants

While he will always be in the shadow of his older brother, Eli has come into his own with New York and the revamped receiving corps. The Giants put on a clinic against the Raiders, but life will not be quite as easy this week going into New Orleans to face the Saints. The offense cannot afford any major mistakes and the defense will have to play flawlessly.

.

3. Saints

The Saints were hot going into the bye week, and now head into their toughest game of the season against the Giants. The most interesting development so far for the Saints has been the improvement in their run game, with the emergence of Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell who are both averaging over 5 yards per carry.

4. Vikings

Nobody expected the Rams to prove any competition for the Vikings and as expected the Vikings dominated St. Louis in every aspect of the game. The only major concern is the lack of production from Adrian Peterson who has yet to post a 100 yard game since the opening week of the season.

5. Broncos

With an overtime win against the Patriots the Broncos proved that the first four games were not flukes and that they are very much for real. The offense may not be 100% yet but the defense is playing well enough for them to beat anybody, If they win against San Diego they may have the division in hand.

6. Eagles

Donovan McNabb came back from injury in a big way, with his first pass being a deep score to rookie receiver Jeremy Maclin. With an October schedule that provides little if any challenge, it's hard to imagine the Eagles leaving the month with anything less than a 5-1 record.

7. Falcons

Mike Smith has never had two consecutive losses with the Falcons and on Sunday he proved once again that Atlanta is a resilient team, beating a quality opponent in San Francisco handily. Michael Turner finally had a big game, scoring three times, but he has yet to post a 100yd game this year.

8. Bengals

Cincinnati fans, it is now safe to take off the paper bags and cheer for the Bengals again. The turnaround this season has to be attributed not only to the improvement in the locker room but also the improvement of a defense which always seemed to be their achilles heel. The Bengals are for real.

9. Bears

The Bears were playing well heading into the bye and hope that the momentum will still be there as they head into Atlanta to face a very good Falcons team. The Bears will have to hope for a good game from Matt Forte, to help keep the potent Falcons offense off the field as much as possible.

10. Steelers

The Lions played the Steelers a bit too close for comfort, but the important thing is that the Steelers can hold out while they await the return of Troy Polamalu. However that should be of little issue to Pittsburgh this week seeing as how they are facing the Browns, which should prove little challenge in their current state.

11. Patriots

There has to be some concern in the Patriots camp about an offense that has struggled all season long, which does not help a defense that is not up to typical Patriots standards. The next two weeks leading into the bye are against winless opponents though, so it should give them some time to figure it out.

12. Ravens

The offensive explosion with which the Ravens started the year has slowly turned down into a trickle, putting up only one score on offense and Joe Flacco has found himself struggling as of late. Things aren't as rosy on defense either, which allowed a 100 yard rusher for the first time in three years.

13. 49ers

San Francisco put up a stinker against the Falcons mostly because the defense just didn't have an answer for Matt Ryan or Roddy White. On the offensive side of the ball they are desperately hoping for Frank Gore to return, as he provides the spark on which the 49ers run. They need the bye week to get back on track.

14. Jets

The Jets' great start to the season has slowly slipped into two consecutive losses, with the most recent being the more upsetting of the two. The defense could not figure out how to stop the Dolphins offense and the Jets' offense isn't capable of winning shoot-out games.

15. Chargers

During the bye week one has to think the biggest focus was on the defense, which hasn't been able to stop anyone all year and has put the excellent offense in a bad position nearly every game. If they want to win the division they have to win Monday nigh against the Broncos, or they may be at home in January.

16. Packers

The Packers are hoping some of their offensive line woes were settled during the bye week, no one felt this more than Aaron Rodgers who has already been sacked 20 times this season, averaging out to 5 per game so far this year. They will have to keep him upright if they want to challenge the Vikings or Bears.

17. Dolphins

18. Cardinals

19. Seahawks

20. Texans

21. Cowboys

22. Panthers

23. Jaguars

24. Lions

25. Redskins

26. Browns

27. Raiders

28. Bills

29. Titans

30. Buccaneers

31. Chiefs

32. Rams
