No, but you can bet he knows several people in the group and has had plenty of discussions with them the last few days. He is just talking out of his ass.

Yeah, Sabates prob has a good feel for what’s going on behind the scenes. I’ll admit, I didn’t read the article posted so I’m not sure who or what was mentioned, but Sabates def is someone to keep an eye on with any type of local ownership group.

I’m telling y’all, this stadium situation has me uneasy. It’s a huge trump card for sports ownership, and we’ve seen it time and time again when owners use the “new stadium” plea as a way to shake down a city for corporate welfare or use it an excuse to hold the city hostage or leave. We saw it happen with the Hornets in like 2001. If the powers that be want a new stadium for the panthers then they are going to get one and probably on the tax payers dime. It’s something to keep an eye on as we move forward.

If J.R. puts a clause in the sale contract that requires the new owners to keep the team in Charlotte for X amount of years.  They cannot move and the Richardson family  (if and when JR passes) could sue over breach of the sales contract.

I seriously doubt it would ever come to that but if part of the agreement is to keep them in Charlotte than the new owners will either comply or JR will select a different proposal.

As far as the stadium is concerned.  This is football and outdoor football is the greatest.  Over our 22yr existence how many really bad weather games have we had.   Not many, if any.  I am talking Ice storm or bitter cold.   20's 30's and 40's are football weather.

And don't be a smart ass when you mention a game in the 20's or 30s.  It is football for crying out loud.

Wait, hold up. We have Charlotte Motor Speedway, and all these 30 miles from downtown Charlotte. Now, how dosnt Charlotte have enough hotels? That is all Charlotte has, Hotels and Business complexes. Im so confused.

I don’t know why the exact # is that they are looking for but I do know in Jacksonville when they had their SB, they had to port luxury cruise ships and use those as makeshift hotels.

Charlotte is still on the low end in terms of accommodations.  This was one of the issues with getting the NBA All-Star game and will be one of the issues of ever hosting a Super Bowl.

U are correct about the accommodations. Charlotte doesn’t have the room. It’s why I laughed when I heard they were going to put in a bid for the olympics, any sort of World Cup group if it were to be held in USA, and even the X-Games.

Which still leads us back to the other part of the equation - any type of new stadium that would replace BOA, ownership would probably want a dome. Having a dome here is the other missing piece of the Super Bowl puzzle. The weather here is wayyyyy to unpredictable for a super bowl in Feb so they would need a dome for the game.

Just speaking for my myself, I couldn’t care less if they hosted a SB here. The odds of the panthers playing in it would be extremely slim, and i certainly wouldn’t be able to afford going to the game and wouldn’t want to deal with the crazy traffic, tourists and rowdiness that would accompany it. I’d probably go to the beach or the mountains that weekend like I usually do during CIAA.

This is all good and well in theory but how do You know what old man Richardson is thinking.....The guy has been revealed as powerful pervert who used his money to legally get out of any type of accountability from sexually harrasing women, and has also been accused of racially charged behavior (all allegedly). His punishment? Making a 2 billion dollar profit on $250 million.

Just a friendly warning bro - do not play this out in your head like some fairy tell. While I believe the panthers will stay here, we don’t know what’s going to happen and we are talking about a shitload of cash and one of the hottest commodities in the world is owning an NFL team. Not to mention we don’t know what else is going to come about with JR and we don’t know who is going to buy the team.

So, do these Hotels have to be within a certain radius of Charlotte? I am not seeing how it does not have enough commendations. The stadium can seat 75,412. So throw in crew, team, news, ESPN, Blah Blah. you would only need Hotels for 100,00 people You mean to tell me Charlotte dosn't have 100,00 hotel rooms? There is 6,500 rooms in Uptown alone. Reports say greater than 35% of the stadium capacity, which is ~ 27,200 hotel rooms.

If you can only go a 10 mile radius from the stadium, ya we dont have enough. If you can include Concord, Gastonia, Harrisburg and surrounding cities, me may have enough?

As I am typing this I am doing research..... looking very grim.

Doing more research. Charlotte has a long way to go. The rooms have to be within an hour of the stadium, during traffic. Also, Stadium size must be atleast 70,00 seats, which we have, but parking can be the issue. Tailgate party area must be atleast 40,000 feet within walking distance. It requires atleast 10,000 parking spaces, and a bunch of other stuff.

Yeah, you would think that Charlotte has enough room to host a SB but when u dig a little deeper u can see we have a bit of ways to go.

I used to live in Huntersville, and during CIAA weekend the hotels up there would get booked up due to the influx of people.

I talked to some bills fans at the bills game this year and they told me they were staying at an AirBnB in Mooresville.

I have no clue what an AirBnB is. I am assuming it is someone renting out a room in a home?
