I believe the 100% sale is at request of the new/existing ownership in order to re-alighn/reshuffle/reshape the ownership group as desired all at once

It's a possibility.

Might also heighten the possibility that some of the existing minority owners are part of this group.

it's already done.

I tend to agree. The announcement of the sale is just a formality in my opinion or a way for Richardson to gauge the true market value if he feels he isn’t getting the most he can out of the buying group. With that said, I feel like he knows exactly who is taking the keys to his baby when he hangs it up.

I don't like the comment about having to build a new stadium to stay.

Panthers stadium is fine as it is. Maybe tinker with a few things. Unfortunately, whoever buys the team will certainly have the high card if they want a new stadium. Corporate welfare.

I didn't like Sabates' statements about the stadium.  Sounds like he really wants a domed stadium since he says BOA is obsolete (after the millions in upgrades) and for state and city governments to foot the bill.  Doesn't say NC gov't or Charlotte gov't so sounds like he would move where he can get a domed stadium funded.  Oh well.......

They want a domed stadium because that is the only way in hell Charlotte could ever be truly considered to host a Super Bowl. I still don’t think they would have enough hotel rooms, but if they were to get a dome they would be able to start being considered for a SB.

I got a bad feeling about this stadium situation.

That is what has been reported - that the Charlotte area doesn't have enough hotel rooms even if BOA was a dome-stadium.  I need to stop reading stuff about this!!

Looked up the Vikings stuff - the funding for the new Vikings facility was approved in 2012.  Metrodome roof was deflated in January 2014.  The Vikings played 2014 and 2015 in the TCF Bank stadium.  US Bank stadium opened in 2016.

Atlanta broke ground in 2014 and opened in 2017.

At age 22, our stadium shouldn't be considered old or replaceable by any stretch of imagination. This city is facing a number of other reasons why hosting a SB here is not that feasible in the next 15-20 years. The uptown is really small, attractions are minimal and doesn't lure in visitors, obviously hotels situation...

However, in 20 years or so, uptown will be a lot larger. Charlotte, more popular.  At that time, talks about a new stadium will be far more fitting.
